Nothing (or nobody) can hurt you here!’ There was still a little (or not so little, depending on how you looked at it) voice in his head whispering ‘they’ll find out, and they’ll all hate you for it’, and as much as he wanted to listen to it, to run away and leave before anyone found out the truth, he couldn’t. Couldn’t leave Inej or Nina, or even Kaz. And Jesper. How can Wylan even begin to describe Jesper. Sweet, kind, smart, funny, charismatic. Hell, Wylan was completely and utterly gone for Jesper.
But now, sat here while Kaz talks about a new job that pays 30 million kruge, he can’t help but wish he had listened to the voice in his head telling him to leave. He knew that was cruel, but he also knew that Kaz has sent a total of eight (Wylan has been keeping count) knowing looks in his direction since the start of this ‘meeting’ , and that is not a good sign. Probably meaning Kaz definitely knows who he is, and is definitely not keeping it a secret from everyone just to help Wylan out.”
