Summary
During his final rotation of medical school, Dennis Whitaker’s struggles with his identity and self-worth are brought to the surface as the life he has worked so hard to hold together begins to fall apart. After his living situation is discovered, he is left with no choice but to accept help from his attending physician, Dr. Robby.
As Dennis is forced to confront the parts of himself he has spent years avoiding, he finds himself developing feelings for the one person he knows he should not want. Robby’s feelings happen to be mutual, but he struggles to separate them from his responsibilities as Dennis’s attending.
Dennis pushes people away, convinced that he is a burden and undeserving of help, while Robby finds himself increasingly drawn to the struggling medical student and wanting nothing more than to help him.
As the two grow closer, both are forced to confront difficult questions about trust, boundaries, and what it means to let someone care for you after spending your entire life trying to survive alone.
