Work Text:

“It’s raw!!” The head chef cried in dismay, with his disappointed Sous Chef, Calla, standing behind him, her arms folded over her chest, green hair in a braid that was stark against the chef's whites she wore.
Jeyne flinched as Ysabel went up to bat against the Chef, letting her eyes slip to Calla once again as she stirred the risotto in her pan. Calla’s mouth was set, in a hard, disappointed expression, but her eyes were soft and round with mirth, a warm chocolate brown against her tanned skin.

“GET OUT!” Ysabel’s jacket flew into the wall as she stormed out of the kitchen, her chance at being the next head chef at High Garden, Las Vegas, lost. Not that Jeyne ever thought she had the slightest chance of victory, what with her cocky and explosive attitude. And, of course, that job was destined for Jeyne.

As the Chef vanished into the Blue Team’s kitchen, Calla took his place at the pass, hands working with a speed that Jeyne could only admire, and dream of one day. Calla may be young, but she was a force of nature in the kitchen, and it was obvious why the Chef hired her. She held a James Beard Award, and her own restaurant, the Red Keep, was well on its way to its first Michelin Star, with Calla having already won ‘Best Young Chef’ from their guide.

If she wasn’t the Sous Chef, Jeyne would ask her out for a drink. Not for a dinner date, Jeyne still hadn’t emotionally recovered from Calla spitting out her oyster amuse-bouche in the Punishment Pass Challenge. Maybe once she won the season, hey.
