Work Text:
Being on a boat was weird. That was Calla’s main takeaway from the past week. She didn’t like the rocking or the water. She couldn’t swim, which wasn’t a nice thought. Every night she dreamed of some strange creature rising up from the depths and eating her, like a vast crab or octopus beast that would pull the whole ship down.
There was one benefit to the ship, and that was Lacey. She was pretty, and was a “guest” of some rich fella on the ship. Lacey said “guest” with a wink and a nudge, so Calla was pretty sure that she was working? Or something. She wasn’t exactly sure. But, Calla liked Lacey. They often chatted in the Red Coast, which was a weird name for a restaurant. It was a better restaurant than the land equivalent, the Red Keep. Which was another good thing about the boat, Calla supposed.
Lacey was really the only good part, though.
