Martha loved working in the A&E. The pressure, the stress, the people. It was busy, chaotic, and often hell, and she wouldn’t change it for the world. Especially with her partner as an x-ray technician. It was lovely grabbing lunch together, even if it was usually a sandwich squished in between two patients or disasters.
Martha was pretty sure that Toshiko was going to become the head of the x-ray department upon Doctor Smith’s retirement, even though she insisted she wouldn’t. She was the best Royal Hope Hospital had ever had, Martha knew that much.
The hospital was a good hospital too. Sure, there was that whole student prank with the talking rhinoceros and all the fake moon landing incidents, but that was all the way back when she was a student. Which was only a year ago, but it felt like about a decade, with the stresses of exams, and then Tish’s kidnapping. But, her relationship with Toshiko and her Doctorate made it probably the best year she could’ve had. Maybe if she just started the year in July, for counting's sake.
However, there was always some form of drama in the hospital. Nurse Williams’ fiance had cheated on him the night before his wedding, with an attendant of all things, and now they were having a baby. And Rory took that attendant on their honeymoon?
Maybe they were a triad. Martha would have to ask.
And there had been that whole situation with the receptionist and her fiance who tried to flood the hospital, and the “witches” poisoning their patients, and the disastrous building works, and the. Okay. There was always something going on in Royal Hope Hospital.
Didn’t stop Martha from loving it, though.
