Chapter Text
Till was in trouble.
He was failing English.
"Whats got you so upset dude?"
Acorn, Tills desk mate in English class, asked innocently.
Meanwhile Till was pulling at his hair so hard that he was sure it was going to rip.
They have just gotten their exams back today, and.. It wasn't looking good for Till.
He got one of the lowest marks in his class. And along with his other very shitty assignments..
Yeah, he was kinda about to fail his English class.
He raised his head to look at Acorn, his brows furrowed in annoyance.
"What do you think? Im gonna have to repeat English."
Acorn took a quick look over Tills exam, but before he could start chuckling, their teacher spoke up.
"So, I'm sure that most of you are pleased with your grades," She looked over at multiple students, including Acorn. Till groaned, burying his head further into his hands.
"..but some of you are on the verge of failing. To prevent that from happening, the school has a system that is meant to help with your english, and also improve your grade."
Till starts sweating. There is absolutely no way he was going into an exchange programm, be would rather die than have to stay at a random strangers house for a week. Not to mention that they have to come over at Tills house as well. Who came up with this??
"For the people who wish to improve their grades," The teacher continues, "come up to me after this lesson and I'll sign you up for the project."
Yeah, there was absolutely no way that Till was going to stay after class, he already started packing his stuff while ignoring a side eye from Acorn.
He could find another way to improve his grade. Maybe he could read some English books? Watch movies in English? Anything to learn English better.
"Yes, Dewey?"
Till looked up towards his classmate, who had raised his hand.
"What kind of project do we have to do for our grade? Is it an exchange programm?"
Very good question. Now Till doesn't have to be the one to embarrass himself by asking.
"No, thankfully it's not an exchange programm." Till straightened out his back, very interested now. "I'm not exactly sure what it is, since other teachers are handling it. All I know is that each of you will get assigned a partner from a different country to talk to for about a month and you will have to document it."
Till sighed. Well, it could be worse.
He just had to talk to a random person in English for a month and then he's not going to be failing anymore.
Sounded easy enough.
So after making sure that everyone apart from the teacher left the classroom, he went up to her, his head lowered in embarrassment.
"Miss, could I also sign myself up for the project?"
His teacher nodded, wrote his name on a pretty empty piece of paper, and handed him a letter with all the information he needed on it.
And with that, Till made his way home.
After reading the letter, Till concluded that this was stupid as hell.
So, why is it so stupid?
Well, for starters, Till was supposed to go to this room thats on the complete other side of the building every Friday after school for the whole month where he was in contact with his partner.
Secondly, he was supposed to talk with a random student from a partner university from another country for a month.
More specifically, he was supposed to message this person at least three times a week. For a month.
And then, he and the other unfortunate souls who signed up for this were supposed to work on a portfolio, documenting everything, every Friday after school.
Till groaned into his hands.
Well, at least he wouldn't have to pay for it.
But still, writing to a randomly assigned person for a month is torture for Till. He could barely talk to new people in his own language, how the hell was he going to talk to someone in English?
This Friday he was supposed to show up in that room and sign up to some school website and then he will get his partner assigned.
This was just great. But it was for his future, and he didn't even have to talk to this person with his camera on or something, so it could be worse.
He just hoped that he would get assigned with someone nice and talkative, and hopefully worse at English than him, maybe that way he wouldn't embarrass himself too much.
Absentmindedly, he started thinking about what kind of person he hoped he'd be partnered with.
A girl would be nice.. A kind, pretty girl. It would also be nice if she was easy to talk to. Maybe extroverted?
Till, poor, pathetic Till, started blushing, thinking about this girl he was going to be talking to for a month.
Maybe they could grow closer..
Maybe, he could get lucky..
