Baby you should lay your head on my chest

Summary:

Chenford + 8x07… all those pillows and Lucy lays on Tim’s chest

Notes:

I thought of this after watching this scene again. She looked so comfortable. This is fluff and softness and communication 🩵

Enjoy!

Work Text:

“Oh my gosh,” Lucy says as she falls into bed. “This bed feels so good.”

“Yeah?” Tim asks. He slides into the bed too. “The van bed wasn’t comfortable?”

“Not even a little bit.” Lucy says. She lays her head on the pillow but it doesn’t feel right. The only thing nice about sleeping in the van was the ocean. The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore. She had been through this before sleeping in a car, but she had gotten used to a real bed and then she had gotten used to a very cuddly human next to her.

She missed him most of all. She missed his soft kisses in the morning to wake her up, she missed him pulling her closer even when she got hot at night. She still liked to curl up into his strong arms.

Oh.” Tim says. She looks over at him curiously.

“You are quiet.” She says. Tim shrugs and she scoots closer. “Are you okay?”

“You heard about Penn?” He asks. Lucy nods, she had heard some whispers about what about with Miles and she’s not sure how he could be so stupid. Especially getting Seth involved, it just didn’t seem like him.

“You gave him another chance.” Lucy says. “That was nice of you.”

“I wasn’t doing it to be nice.” Tim says. “He needs—”

“You did the right thing babe.” Lucy says and she inches closer. She is still on her pillows but barely. She just wants to be next to Tim.

“Come here.” Tim says and she hesitates and then settles down on his chest. He wraps his arms around her. She listens to his heart beating and its 100 times better than the ocean waves. She listens to his breathing. The indication that he’s right there next to him. She feels his hand moving up and down on her arm.

She loves him, she missed him and she really hopes she never has to be separated from him again.

Never again.

Tim wakes up suddenly and sees Lucy’s head is still on his chest. She’s asleep and she looks quite comfortable, like she hasn’t slept in days. He presses a kiss to the top of her head and she stirs.

“Hi.” She mutters and then a smile spreads across her face. “Good morning.” Tim looks over at the clock on the bedside table.

3:06am

“It’s the middle of the night.” He says. “I just woke up.”

“Oh.” Lucy says. “I was actually sleeping.”

“Sorry for waking you.” Tim says and he hates knowing that she didn’t really get any sleep the last four weeks.

(Not that he got any sleep either).

“It’s okay,” Lucy says softly. “I was bound to wake up anyway.” Tim sighs and kisses her again.

“I have to go to the bathroom.” He says and Lucy pouts a little. “I’ll be right back baby.” Lucy lifts up her head and he rolls out of bed.

“I bet it’s nice to have a real bathroom.” He says before he disappears inside. He goes to the bathroom and then washes his hands. He makes his way back to the bedroom and leans against the doorway.

“It is nice.” Lucy says sleepily. “The bed is nice and soft but—” Tim pauses and notices that she is sitting up.

“What?”

“I like your chest.” She says. “It’s comforting. I listened to the beach waves and Nyla next to me—” Tim raises his eyebrows at her.

“I just like you.” Lucy says. “Don’t get a big head.”

“Oh never.” Tim says grinning at her. “That’s crazy.” Lucy rolls her eyes as he gets into bed and she instantly puts her head back on his chest.

Tim smiles and runs his fingers through her hair. “I don’t think I can do that again.” Lucy says after a few minutes of silence.

“Do what?”

“Go undercover again. Be away from you and everything. I did it for those two woman and we got them justice.” Lucy says and Tim feels her shaking a little. He heard what happened on the beach, and he wished he could have been there to see Lucy in action but he also knew she needed to handle it herself.

“Really?”

“You can be happy about it Tim.” Lucy says. “I don’t mind. It’s not for me. It’s not me.”

“It was you.” Tim points out. “Once upon a time.” Lucy sighs and he knows she’s thinking it over.

“I did enjoy it,” she admits. “The thrill. The adrenaline and getting justice for the victims. But now—”

“What?”

“I love being a sergeant and learning new things. I love being a leader and working next to you.” She says. “I love that I get tested everyday. And I love coming home to you every single day.” Tim cracks a smile.

“Yeah?” He asks and he believes her and he is relieved deep down but he doesn’t want her to hold back.

“I know what you are thinking Tim and it’s all me. I made this decision on my own.” She says.

“Okay.” Tim says. Lucy smiles a little and he feels a soft kiss to his chest. He loves her, he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. “It was hard without you too.”

“Yeah?”

“I couldn’t sleep and then I got the call about Penn.” Tim says. Lucy clicks her tongue and looks at him.

“You did sleep a little bit right?” She asks. “Tim—”

“As much as I could.” Tim admits. He doesn’t want to tell her that the most sleep he got was after he saw her at Astro Burger. He doesn’t want to tell her that he did play video games but he didn’t put the volume all the way up.

He just wanted her next to him.

“We should really be sleeping now.” Lucy says and Tim lets out a laugh. It was amazing, they were back together but they were awake.

“We should.” Tim agrees. “I’m really glad you are home.”

“Home.” Lucy mutters and he looks down at her as her eyes slowly close. “I’m home.” Tim smiles and gives her a kiss.

Yes she was home and he was right there with her.

Exactly where he needs to be. Exactly what he belongs
