Summary
Jess was always good at running, only this time he didn't know what he was leaving behind.
It's the fall of 2009. Everything seems to be going right for Rory Gilmore. She's living in New York City, has her dream job at The New York Times, and is dating Jess Mariano, whom she reconnected with shortly after graduating from Yale. However, after a massive fight—fueled by past tensions and Truncheon's recent financial struggles—they break up, and Jess vows to rid himself of Rory Gilmore, New York City, the entire east coast, and his past for good. Once Truncheon shuts down, he packs his car and heads west, planning to never look back. Unbeknownst to Jess, Rory is pregnant. With no forwarding address, Rory decides to follow in her mother's footsteps and raise the baby on her own, all while part of her still awaits Jess's return.
Seventeen years later, Lily Gilmore (Lily being short for Lorelai, naturally) embarks on a mission to find her father. As Lily and Jess navigate this sudden relationship, Rory and Jess rekindle one of their own.
