Summary
Legend held that at the dawn of time, when the world still seethed with primordial heat, the Celestial Leviathan, greatest of the dragon-kind, built her nest upon the highest peak so that her clutch might absorb the heat of the Sun itself. But the star proved too cruel; it scorched the life from the shells, turning the eggs into gray, lifeless ash.
Mad with grief, the Leviathan cursed the Sun and turned away from it forever. Consumed by boundless sorrow, her scales lost their color, turning white as the void, and the blood in her veins ran cold. She descended from the heavens to the earth, doomed to wander eternally in search of her lost brood. Each heavy breath she exhaled became a snowstorm, every fallen tear turned into an impenetrable crust of ice, and the beat of her whitened wings drove the Great Frost before it.
