Rain tapped outside their house while the time passed by. Derek was sitting on the couch inside their living room doing some research again.
It didn't take long to be interrupted as somebody came by and just pressed their whole body against his.
"Avery? You alright?", he asked as he closed the book and wrapped his arms around Avery.
He just hummed as a response and snuggled in closer to the touch. "You're warm...", he spoke with a tired voice.
Derek didn't need to ask to know he spent last whole night purely just playing skywars even though he promised he would go to bed by one in the morning.
"And you're tired, love."
"Mhhm.. maybe, maybe noo..not..", he absolutely was though.
Derek moved one of his arms to cup Avery's cheek and made him look into his eyes, well, speaking if his eyes were opened even slightly. He just leaned into the touch and tiredly smiled.
"You didn't sleep last night, I know it already.", to that Avery forced his eyes open to look back at him before sighing. "I know... I'm.. so..orry.."
"It's alright darling, but please go to sleep earlier tonight. Okay?", he softly asked while looking at Avery who was at the edge of falling asleep.
Avery was quiet for a few seconds while trying to form an understandable sentance inside his mind. "I..uhm yeah.. but.. i have... have a question..", he paused before the second part was added. "I.. you still love me right? You.. uh aren't madr I.. I lie..ed?", the question took Derek by surprise though it wasn't really that shocking as the person who was asking it was probably more of asleep than awake.
"I- No Avery, I'm not mad though I'm worried. It's not healthy to stay awake too long and too much."
Avery just smiled in response and started speaking again. "Sooo... could I stay a night at... at youruh.. bed..bedr...be?—", "Bedroom?", "Yeah! That uhhm... Room."
Derek just smiled softly and pressed a kiss against other's forehead. "You can, you don't even have to ask, you're always welcomed."
It was now Avery's turn to smile and snuggle up towards the warmth that welcomed him at all times. "I.. I love you d3ar.. you're so caring and nice..", he barely murmured.
"I love you too Aves", he pressed yet another quick kiss to his forehead before picking him up bridal style and making his way towards his bedroom.
He placed down Avery and then snuggled up next to him, being immediately attacked by his embrace and love.
Avery tried to kiss him though he kept messing up leaving him to acidentally pepper kisses all over the other.
It took until Derek was the one kissing Avery for them to actually manage it
"Go to sleep."
"Mhhm, alright d3ar..", he finally fully relaxed letting the sleep overtake.
Soon enough Derek gave Avery a last forehead kiss before drifting off with Avery.
