Work Text:

To be fair, Kyouya didn't tend to be this distracted, even if Masumi thought otherwise. This were small mistakes anyone could make: forgetting their lunch, a pen or an eraser from time to time, nothing that could be solved on the spot.

It's just that this time it was a collection of unexpected situations: He was late, reason why he was in a rush, he didn't take an umbrella and a storm poured in the midway.

There was no way he made it dry to the school!

It was still drizzling outside when he walked by the door and the teacher send him to get a change.

"You truthfully are an imbecile," Masumi looked at him with those deep dark eyes that in some way feel like they are severely judging him "Raining season is already here. Where is your fucking mind?"

Kyouya was going to defend himself, but instead the urge to sneeze won over. Shit, he hasn't been properly sleeping due to the upcoming exams and last thing he wanted was to get sick.

He felt something hot in his nape.

"Danocchi?" He turned to look at his partner, who gave him a hot drink, a green tea from the vending machine.

Now he gets what he went for, Mudano used to bring his own lunch and it would be strange for him to go and buy.

It's surprising, Kyouya didn't expect something like this from his friends, reason why he felt really happy deep inside, almost like a tingling sensation in the pit of his stomach.

"If you get sick now, you will perform worse in the exams"

"Aw, you really are considerate, Danocchi. Have I finally soften your heart?" Was said while he accepted the drink, putting it on his cheek to feel the warmth. His body was still a bit cold, the sports uniform was light.

"Are you for real? In front of my salad?" Masumi complained. Kyouya tilted his head.

"Masu, that's an Omurice."

"I know what I'm eating, you piece of…"

"It's still raining," said Mudano sitting down and taking out his lunch, cutting whatever it was the point they were about to fight over.

Kyouya looked through the closest windows. The rain didn't seem to stop soon. Maybe it will keep going after the last hour; how the hell is he going to get home? The redhead just wanted to sigh, if he didn't get sick from his school rush, he will surely get sick from his return home.

It will surely be a problem… He turned to see with puppy eyes his shortest friend.

"Masu, don't you want to bring me home?" He suggested in a slightly jokeful tone, trying to test waters. Masumi was the only one with a bicycle.

"I have no raincoat for you and you will be a nuisance" the rejection was immediate, without even blinking.

Kyouya melted over his desk, regretting his existence. At least he had tea to get warm for now.

(…)

Just like he suspected, the rain didn't stop.

Kyouya was standing by the entrance, just thinking about how much would he have to wait to not get drenched.

Masumi was already gone. The damned traitor did have another raincoat, but it was meant to be for one or their kohais, he couldn't complain because Kaoru was genuinely nice.

Crap, it would have been nice to at least have a coat with him, the rain wind was freezing. He hated being cold.

"Let's go."

"Eh?"

Kyouya was surprised to see Naito by his side. The teacher tasked him with taking the group projects, but it had been so long that the redhead thought he was already heading home without him noticing.

His partner put the umbrella over him. It was an individual, retractable and practical navy blue umbrella. It was always on Mudano's back no matter if it was dry season or a late night.

"Are you accompanying me?" He asked, surprised.

They didn't live nearby and Mudano was someone who valued his time above anything. Plus, that umbrella was meant to cover only one person, it wasn't practical for two.

And something that's not practical it's not feasible for Mudano Naito.

"If you get sick and fail, you will have to come in the summer break," was stated without even a glance.

Kyouya couldn't understand how that was an argument, he didn't understand the reason as of why Mudano cared so much about his summer time.

"That would be a problem," agreed Kyouya, scratching his cheek.

The raven nodded and began to walk. The red-haired took his bag and followed alongside.

Kyouya can't avoid noticing two things: their shoulders bump, he wanted to put some space even if that means getting wet, but Mudano reached close to him again. He even matched his steps considering he used to walk faster — since it's more efficient—.

For a reason he could yet to pin point, those details were making him nervous. He was thankful those nerves didn't show on his voice, or rather, that the rain didn't allow them.

"I thought you didn't like physical contact, Danocchi…"

"You are over me all the time, I've accustomed, I guess."

"If you say it like that it sounds like I pushed you to do something."

"Mn…"

"Danocchi, at least try to deny it!"

When they reached his home, Kyouya invited him to get in, being thankful for the wide space under his roof. On the way his mind had begun to play him dirty, his heart accelerated like a girl sharing an umbrella with her first crush.

Truthfully absurd.

"Thanks, Danocchi, you should stay and drink something warm," He proposed a little bit distracted, seemed like the rain will cease soon.

Huh… he didn't notice, but it looked like Mudano got a little wet in the shoulder…Kyouya swallowed hard and giggled nervously. Should he mention it?

"No, I'm fine," He denied, he should probably head home and Kyouya had already altered enough his routine "Don't fail your exams."

"You are really worried about my academic performance, Danocchi…"

"I'm planning to ask you out in summer, it wouldn't be efficient that you stayed for complementary classes."

"Eh? You could go out with Massu while…"

"I want to spend time with you. Just us."

"As in… a date?"

"Yes."

Shit, Kyouya was terribly embarrassed now. They had shared an umbrella like those romance mangas and he was now in some sort of confession, that didn't feel romantic at all, but made his heart race.

"Danocchi, that is…"

"I don't need an answer since I have yet to ask you," He got cut, with his umbrella over his shoulder again. The rain was now a soft drizzle "So don't you dare to blow it, Kyouya."

"Yeah, right…" He muttered, still shocked by the revelation.

He doesn't know how long he stayed by his door, even when Mudano was alrady gone.

Fuck, now he had to study.
