Summary
Deep beneath Cybertron, Decepticon miners open new tunnels in search of energon veins, rare crystals, and precious metals for the war. Instead, they break into an ancient chamber filled with the lifeless remains of Insecticons that have been dead for countless cycles.
At the center of it all lies something impossible.
Sealed inside a mass of amber-like resin is a perfectly preserved Wild Insecticon: slender, sharp-clawed, with two delicate crystalline wings folded against his back. His name, according to the ancient records buried with him, is Starscream.
Hardshell reacts before anyone else can. To the massive Insecticon, Starscream is not a relic, prisoner, or curiosity.
He is his queen.
Megatron immediately sees opportunity. A living Wild Insecticon capable of commanding the hive could become an invaluable weapon for the Decepticons—if Starscream can be controlled.
Unfortunately for Megatron, Starscream awakens with instincts older than modern Cybertron, a temperament sharp enough to draw blood, and absolutely no intention of submitting quietly.
The Decepticons thought they had unearthed a weapon.
What they actually found was a queen.

Starscream thought becoming director of a remote rural orphanage was finally his reward after years of obeying superiors. Then he sees the crumbling building—and memories of a novel flood his processor.
He is the story’s infamous villain: the cruel orphanage director who made the childhoods of three future legends a living hell. Optimus Prime, the lost royal heir, will imprison him for life. Megatron, the future general, will kill him without mercy. Soundwave, a terrifying magician bonded to a crow and panther, will have his familiars devour him. And in the True Ending, all three torture him repeatedly while Soundwave heals him whenever death comes too close.
Absolutely not.
Starscream decides to rewrite his fate: repair the orphanage, gather donations, care for every sparkling, and treat Optimus, Megatron, and Soundwave kindly until their destined adoptions arrive.
