Karlach was good at the showmanship, that was for certain. It was fun, working with her. Xullara had always thrilled when an edge of real danger existed within the performance, and she certainly delivered on that. Although, they sometimes wished it were more. They wanted to feel truly threatened, sometimes. To stagger away and not be entirely sure what would become of them.
Karlach made a convincingly charming face to Xullara’s dangerously unhinged heel. Both of them knew how to perform, but Xullara privately thought Karlach was better at it. She had the kind of exuberance the thing needed. It was easier for them, too, to play off her and rile the crowd up. The whole thing was about entertainment, after all. That was what they were here to provide.
Backstage, they shared drinks and kisses. It might seem strange, the differences between performance and reality, but they enjoyed it.
