Have You No Shame?

Summary:

It seems clear that the White Masked Wonder is stalking our Wonder, does that mean he follows into the Not-Palaces?

Notes:

Once again this was Nyans's fault! I bear no responsibility for what he is turning me into >:/

Work Text:

Getting separated from Violet, Cattle and Mona was certainly a thing that happened. It sucked, especially since Violet was so new but Wonder trusted both Cattle and Mona to take care of her.

Still, being down three people, especially the only two healers was worrying for Wonder’s group on himself, Joker and Crow. They kind of defaulted to Joker being the leader as he was the only one familiar with everyone, also Crow looked like he'd rather explode than take orders from someone new.

In the absence of all of their navigators Crow reluctantly admitted that he had minor navigational abilities and was acting as navigator for the time being.

“We’re being followed.” Crow said, not faltering for a second nor allowing Wonder or Joker to do the same.

“By who?” Joker asked, continuing behind Akechi but keeping an eye out.

“I don’t know.” Crow shook his head, “A real person like the three of us but not Violet, Mona or Cattle. They feel similar to Wonder.”

Wonder quickly ran through who it could be in his mind, remembering what Wind had said about his teammates but no one had ever been described to be similar to one another. Yet there was a possibility in Wonder’s mind about who it could be.

He stopped walking, it took a second for Joker and Crow to realize and stop themselves.

“Wonder! If that’s you then you can come out now.” He called.

Silence permeated the air, then the sound of clothes ruffling and shoes hitting the floor.

“Want to know if you have a chance, do you?” Impossibly elegant, the White Masked Wonder took a step forward after a lethal fall from his high up stalking station. “I swing both ways but I’m sure you knew that already.”

That motherfucker…

Both Joker and Crow took out their guns, aiming it at White Mask.

White Mask sighed, clearly performative in nature. “I forgot your persona had navigational abilities.”

“Wonder,” Joker started, “Who is this?”

Wonder cringed, how to explain someone he had only ever met once? “Joker, Crow, meet Wonder. Wonder, meet–”

“Oh I already know who they are.” White Mask grinned, clearly pleased with himself.

“You aren’t helping yourself.”

“Was I supposed to? Can’t you help me instead?”

The nerve of this guy.

Joker put his gun away but Crow did not. Smart honestly, Wonder should probably pull his own gun out and shoot at White Mask, it would probably be a great stress release.

“Both of you are Wonder?” Joker looked between the two, “We’ll have to call one of you something else.”

“We can call him White or White Mask,” Wonder suggested, “That’s what I call him in my head.”

White Mask pouted at Wonder. “Wonder was my name first you know. Why do you call me White Mask?”

“Because I’m Wonder.”

“Really?” White Mask actually seemed somewhat surprised, “Not Na–”

“Sh!” Wonder slammed his hand against White Mask’s mouth, his other hand gripping White Mask’s shoulder. “No real names!”

White Mask held up his hands in mock surrender but his eyes were wide with mirth. Wonder glared at White Mask for a second before dropping his hands.

“So demanding, Nacchan then.” White Mask said happily.

Wonder’s face burned as he looked away from White Mask with a scowl. Wonder didn’t miss the way Joker and Crow exchanged glances before Crow sighed and put his gun away either. He was simply choosing not to mention it.

“So who exactly are you?” Crow asked, looking Wonder up and down with suspicion. “How are you here?”

“Were you not paying attention? Some Detective Prince you are.” White Mask teased, “My name is Wonder.”

“Something tells me we aren’t getting any answers from him.” Joker commented, he and Crow then proceeded to look at Wonder.

Wonder huffed, “Despite wearing my face, he doesn’t tell me anything either.” He shrugged, “I’ve only met him once.”

Crow scoffed, “Are you sure we can trust him?”

“Not in the slightest.”

“Nacchan!” White Mask whined, resting his head on Wonder’s shoulder for a moment before Wonder shoved him off. “It's rude to talk about someone in front of their face, you know. I am just a concerned onlooker.”

Wonder was certain that absolutely no one believed White Mask when he said that.

“You know what’s also rude?” Wonder asked, “Stalking!”

White Mask huffed but said nothing to refute it.

“We’re wasting time, we can walk and talk.” Without waiting for anyone to reply, Crow turned around and started walking. Forcing the others to walk as well lest they be left behind.

Except…

Wonder turned around, “Wonder, you coming?”

“I’d rather not, I’m not in the mood to talk to L– your owl.” White Mask stepped forward. “I hope you don’t mention this but I can’t stop you.”

White Mask took one on Wonder’s hands and pressed a kiss to it with a slight bow. “I’ll be seeing you.”

With that, White Mask turned around and left.

Wonder, however, was blushing up a storm while Joker and Crow gave the most judgemental looks they could give.

“Some offence but are you a narcissist?” Crow asked with a complete deadpan.

“Some taken…” Wonder replied, his mind slowly turning into mush. “I don’t think so?”

“How did you even meet him?” There was disappointment on Joker’s face, Wonder really rather Joker be angry.

“I–” Wonder’s voice cracked, he cleared his throat and tried to will away his flusteredness. “I found his phone and he shot it out of my hand. The others don’t know about it! Please don’t tell Cattle, he won’t remember it anyway.”

It was clear that Joker didn’t like the idea of keeping that secret.

“So let me get this straight.” Crow started.

“What happened to walking and talking?”

“This is more important, let me get this straight.” Crow insisted, “You find a phone in the Metaverse, which needs a phone for entering and exiting, where losing your phone is basically a death sentence.”

Wonder nodded.

“And he shot it out of your hands.”

Wonder nodded again.

“And you decided that it was so attractive that you developed a crush on someone using your face.”

Wonder sputtered. “I did not!”

Joker made a disbelieving noise. “It’s pretty obvious.”

“Is not!” Wonder refuted again, “Why would I crush on someone I’ve only met twice!? Who looks like me!?

“Those are our questions, Nacchan.”

Wonder had nothing to say to that, so he just avoided looking at his teammates and stalked forwards. Trying to ignore his own mind torturing him with the image of White Mask’s face when saying goodbye.
