Couch Cuddle [Lovebirds Oneshot]

Summary:

Girlfriend loves horror movies. Boyfriend isn't a big horror guy, but indulges in his Girlfriend's hobbies. They love each other very much.

Notes:

We need more domestic, fluff Lovebirds fanfics that don't involve crossovers imo. Hope y'all enjoy.

Work Text:

The TV glowed softly, bathing the dark room in a comfortable, dull light. Onscreen, a woman held her breath as she peeked into a dark abyss of a room. The ambient tick, tick, tock of a grandfather clock echoed through the scene. Every second felt longer than the last. The woman sighed in relief, pressing herself against the door.

The TV felt eerily silent.

So did the living room.

A palm slammed against the door beside the woman's face.

"EEK! SO SCARY!!" Girlfriend squealed in delight.

Despite the harsh, cold light of the television, the warm, comforting atmosphere remained ever-present. All thanks to a certain someone cuddled up against her.
She turned to Boyfriend, pointing excitedly at the screen, "Did you see that, babe!? That was some CRAZY work!"

She was met with silence, save for the horror ambience drifting from the TV.

The demoness tilted her head in confusion and peered closer at her blue-haired lover. Instead of excited nonsense syllables, rhythmic little snores escaped him.

"Awww, hun..." Girlfriend cooed, immediately gushing over the sleeping rapper.

Now, Boyfriend wasn't big on horror. Not because he was scared easily- quite the opposite. Horror just didn't do much for him. Neither was Girlfriend particularly scared by it, but she loved the thrill that came whenever something "scary" happened onscreen.

It was exciting for her. For Boyfriend? It was just there.

Sometimes he'd react, especially when Girlfriend cheered, but that was about it. Then again, Boyfriend was her fearless, tough guy. No scary movie or game could spook him!

Perhaps that was one of the many reasons she adored him so much.

A smile spread across Girlfriend's face as Boyfriend slept soundly beside her. She couldn't help but compare him to a sleepy little kitty. Especially with that soft-looking hair...

Hm...

Slowly, she wrapped her arms around him and lowered him onto her lap. As if by instinct, Boyfriend settled into her embrace almost immediately. She carefully removed his red cap, revealing even more of his fluffy blue hair. Oh, how she wanted to squirm and bounce in excitement—

BUT NO!

She had to remain calm and collected. All for her precious Boyfriend.

Lowering a hand to his head, she gently ran her fingers through his hair. Her movements were slow and steady. Each pass worked through another tiny knot. Boyfriend stirred. His eyes cracked open slightly as he let out a tired beep, as though he had no idea when- or where- he was.

Girlfriend giggled, "Hey, sleepyhead." She gently scratched the top of his head before brushing a few strands away from his face. "You're so cute when you're sleepy."

"Bop..." Boyfriend pouted, trying to deny he'd fallen asleep.

Girlfriend rolled her eyes, "You were snoring, silly."

She tucked a loose, blue strand behind his ear and continued stroking his hair, weaving her fingers through the soft blue tufts.

Looking back toward the movie, she pointed at the screen, "Oohh- this part is interesting! Watch carefully!"
Boyfriend lazily turned his attention toward the TV, squinting, "Bep boop boh?"

Girlfriend paused, "...Yeah, no. I could never really understand what it's about," she admitted sheepishly. Paying attention to what movies were actually about had never seemed that important.
Boyfriend smirked, "...Heh. Yeah. That's why the movie's boring."

Girlfriend snapped her head away from the screen and toward her lover… Then an idea struck.
"Yeahhhh, not one of my best picks..." she admitted. "But y'know what isn't boring?" Girlfriend prompted, a smirk across her face…

Boyfriend tilted his head, "Wuzzat?"
"You." Girlfriend booped his nose.
Boyfriend blinked. Even in the dim light, she could see his face turn bright red, "...Baaaahhhp..."

He was so cute when he tried to deny it. Girlfriend wouldn't trade that for anything.
