Chapter Text
Watching Scott Goldsmith, Shelby Grace and Drift Emerson was kind of like watching a soap opera. If every character in it was a queer vampire. Maybe they did. Abolish wouldn’t know. If they did, he would watch them, they’d be far more entertaining. He had only watched one on the ‘television’ as they called it now. He’d found it incredibly confusing and boring, so he’d just given up on soap operas. And ‘television’ in general.
Still. Whatever it was, it couldn’t be half as interesting as this was.

Abolish checked his pocket watch. Technology had come a long way in all his years of living. But he had relied on this watch for as long as he could remember, just getting it fixed up when it broke. After all… It was all he really had left of his father.
That and of course the immortality.
It had been two hundred and twenty years since he’d last seen his father. Counting them had become a bit of a habit by now… It wasn’t like he was Owen or Scott or something. Both of them had, had serious issues with that. Fortunately, Abolish was very used to telling his impulses to leave him alone. Or he just ignored them. That normally worked.
And two hundred years since-
Since-
Since Oakhurst had happened.
Abolish slipped the watch back into his pocket. It was getting dark and while he technically didn’t need to sleep he preferred to.
And besides.
No need to dwell on the past…

The walk back to his apartment felt longer than usual. Probably because his mind was occupied to say the least.
Abolish hadn’t visited any of the graves in two hundred years. Not even for the reunions. Which, much to his annoyance, had only got more frequent. First every twenty-five years, then twenty, then ten and now they met up every year.
Abolish had only turned up to the first one. It had gone so badly that he had decided to never turn up to one again. Even if they did get better…
And if he was being honest? He hated them. He hated them all. He hated them for all the fighting and all the pain they had caused.
He remembered everyone who had been lost…
Owen Millers.
James Legundo.
Martyn Woodhurst.
Rendhart Dogmourne.
Annoying-Vampire-Hunter-Aka-The-Bane-Of-My-Life.
And-
And- Him…
Jack Von Pyroscythe.
Abolish refused to admit that the last one hurt the most…
Because he had hated everyone in that town except for them. And now they were gone too…

The elevator was broken as normal, so he took the stairs. Abolish really needed to file a complaint about that. Or move out. Moving out seemed like a good option. He had the money to be able to move out of this terrible apartment.
Note to self: Move out.
Abolish’s footsteps were silent as he walked across the padded floor. Another advantage of his messed-up genetics, he supposed.
And then he stopped, a few feet away from his apartment.
Someone stood there- Someone who Abolish knew all too well-
They leaned on his apartment door, red eyes glinting with that feral hunger Abolish had learnt to recognize. He looked- starving. Their white hair was matted with blood, and their coat hid the worst of the stains.
"Abolish…” Pyro smiled weakly at him, fangs glinting slightly before his head lolled back and he fainted.
