Work Text:
Hemlocke didn’t see as much of Knightshayde as she might have liked. He was always down in the bowels of the ship, deep in the engine room. In many ways, Knightshayde’s role as engine room staff and her own as housekeeping were hardly related. But they lived and worked on the same cruise ship, and that gave them rather more in common. As did the simple fact that both of them had stepped away from the expectations of others, chosen names and appearances and forms of their own.
They had talked, a lot, sat on the floor or leant against walls. She had applied her makeup as Knightshayde watched, and watched herself as she dyed her hair. She hoped that Knightshayde would be receptive to spending more time together, and maybe sharing in something else.
