There was a ghost in the Red Keep. Kiera was convinced of it. At night, she heard wailing. In the day, she heard whispers. A cool wind curled around her whenever she heard it.
She told Daenora what she suspected, and Daenora responded, hushed. “I’ve heard her too.”
“Her?”
“I think so. Sounds like it, and many a woman would have reason to haunt this place.”
“True. I think we should try and find her.”
She watched Daenora’s expression waver, but still she said, “Alright.”
So that was resolved, and one night they each crept out of bed, candles in hand, to meet in a hallway, and follow the sound of wailing. It was more frightening in the dark, but Kiera was determined to find out the truth.
