Chapter Text
Jax spotted Ribbit in the corner of his eye. God, she just wouldn’t let up, would she? He was running out of excuses. If only-
A splash sound interrupted his thoughts. He looked over to see a glob of orange goo appear on the stage. Perfect, a distraction.
“Agh- pfff- ckkhh-” the slime sputtered, twitching into various shapes, “Ukhh- wh- where am I? What is this?! Why-”
“Hey, welcome to The Amazing Digital Circus!” Jax exclaimed, climbing up on the stage. He glanced at Ribbit to see that she was walking away.
The goo stopped twitching. Two holes resembling cartoonish eyes with eyelashes moved around to face him. “T-The what?” it said in an androgynous voice.
“Computer dimension you can’t escape from. Congrats!” Jax said smugly, “You’re trapped here forever!”
“W-wh-No!” the goo thrashed about. “I just put it on, I can-”
“You can’t remove the headset, sludge.” Jax said. The slime froze, looking at him in horror.
“Stop scaring her, Jax.” Ragatha approached the goo. She knelt down. “It is ‘her’, right?”
“Um… yeah…” the goo said in a more clearly feminine voice, “It is…”
The goo stared at Ragatha, unaware that Caine was slowly emerging from the floor behind it. He clutched his cane in both hands as the background darkened.
Ragatha glanced up at him and sighed exasperatedly.
“HOLY MUFFINS IT WORKED!” Caine exclaimed, causing the goo to splatter outwards in shock.
“A human with a malleable, wet, silly putty, wet, formless, wet, dry body!” Caine laughed, “I’m a GENIUS!”
Caine scooped up all of the slime into a ball. “How does it feel? Is it incredible?”
The goo ball’s eyes quivered. She breathed in. “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Whoa!” Caine dropped the slime onto the stage where it splatted flat, silencing her scream. “That was NOT the scream I was expecting! It was less ‘deep, unfathomable pain,’ and more ‘Wow, I love you, Caine! You’re so cool and hot and cool and awesome and cool!’ Try saying that next time, verbatim!”
He looked down at Ragatha and Jax and began whispering loudly. “Could you two, like, deal with this? I have to… uh… ‘do taxes’.”
Caine plunged through the ceiling, scattering pieces of wood everywhere.
Ragatha looked down at the splat of orange slime on the stage. Its eyes were slowly spinning and moving, as if she was disoriented.
“Are you all right?” Ragatha asked.
The goo said nothing. A cartoon spinning symbol appeared above her head to indicate dizziness.
“I wouldn’t bother with it, Rags,” Jax said, “A human in that body is just gonna abstract.”
“Come on Jax, have some hope.” Ragatha produced a jar from somewhere and began scooping the slime into it.
