Work Header

The Guy at The Cashier

Summary:

Parrot X2 was a normal college student. He was smarter than most kids at the university. He had friends, and was kind of popular.

He wasn’t as smart as Wifies Director, though. Wifies was a genius, being able to solve some of the most complex math problems.

Wifies and Parrot were always racing to be first. But, as Wifies was smarter, he always was the top student.

Parrot admired him. He maybe had a bit of a crush on him as well. He’s only seen Wifies from afar, he’s never really talked to him before. He still looks really handsome, even from afar.

That all changed one Saturday afternoon.

Or College AU Parfies + Theo being really done with Parrot and Wifies.

Chapter Text

Theo groaned as Parrot dragged him into the Lego store. “Parrot, we’ve been in the mall for hours. Can we not go in the Lego store? Please?…” Theo begged. He was so done with shopping.

Parrot, who really wanted to get a Harry Potter Lego set responded with,”Theo, we won’t be there for long. Only a few minutes.”

Theo deadpanned at him. “Parrot. That’s what you said at the last few stores and we stayed in there for 30 minutes. Are you serious?!”

Parrot gave him a glare and walked into the store.

”…This guy,” Theo muttered, following after him.

Parrot went up to where the Harry Potter Legos were. It didn’t take him long to find the one he wanted. “Yo, Theo, I got the Lego set, we can go now,” Parrot called out. Theo let out a sigh of relief. “Thank God, if I had stayed in this store for any longer I think I would’ve died!”

As they walked up to the checkout, Parrot froze. Theo walked a few steps before noticing. “Parrot, you good?” Theo asked.

Parrot pointed to the corner by the door to get out of the store and started walking there. Theo followed behind, obviously confused.

In the corner, Parrot pretended to look at some other Legos. Theo was confused. What the hell was Parrot doing?

“Parrot, what’s wrong?” Theo questioned, trying to get Parrot to tell him so they could solve the problem and leave.

Parrot pointed at the cashier, who was currently not paying attention to them. “That’s—That’s… That’s Wifies,” Parrot whispered, turning his head to look at Theo.

Theo paused. “You mean the Wifies you have a “little” crush on?” Theo asked, actually confused.

Parrot nodded, and Theo could see the blush on his face. “I don’t want to go up to him…” Parrot whined.

Theo frowned. He was not going to deal with this today. “Just—go up there, I can do the talking if you want,” He quickly suggested.

Parrot stared at Wifies. “What if he knows who we are?” He quietly asked. Theo shrugged,”If he knows who we are, then we just be cool about it. He’s probably not going to ask you, as I’ll probably be the one paying.”

Parrot sighed. “Fine, we can go up there.”

The duo walked up to the checkout. Wifies raised his head. “Find everything you needed?” He asked, he squinted his eyes. “Oh wait, I know you,” He pointed to Parrot, who flushed up and hoped Wifies didn’t notice,”You’re Parrot, right? From Uni?”

Parrot forced himself to nod. “Yeah!” He squeaked, voice going up one octave. His face was so red you could probably see it if you were about a yard away from him.

Wifies looked at Theo. “And you are?…” He asked. Theo looked offended, as he was literally one of the most popular kids in the school, known for starting fights. “My name’s Theo.” Said Theo.

“Ah… Okay.” He said while scanning the item. “Your total is $45, is will that be cash or card?”

“Card,” Theo said quickly.

Then, Wifies asked the most horrible question to ever ask Parrot.

“Hey, Parrot, are you okay? Your face is very red, are you sick?” Wifies asked gently.

Theo almost puked on the spot. “Stupid homosexuals…” He muttered under his breath. He didn’t say it quiet enough, because then both Parrot and Wifies were looking at him with wide eyes.

“What did you just say?” Wifies questioned. Theo let out a guilty laugh, “Nothing!”

Parrot kicked Theo. “OW!! I’m just speaking the truth, alright?” He yelped.

”Ahah… sorry about that.” Parrot managed to get out. Wifies looked at Parrot. “That’s totally fine,” He replied.

Once they finally payed, they left the store. “Oh my God, Theo you are an actual brick. I hate you.” Parrot embarrassedly snaps at him.

Theo rose up his hands. “Hey, I was just saying the truth, he literally looked at you like you hung the stars and the moon. There is no way that man doesn’t like you.”

“…That’s not true. There’s other people who are prettier than me. Plus, what if he doesn’t like males?” Parrot quietly questioned.

Theo sighed. “You are an idiot, you know that Parrot? If he wasn’t a homosexual, he would probably say something about it. He was to calm about it.”

Parrot only said one thing.

“We can go now.”

Theo let a huge sigh of relief out. “FINALLY!” I’ve been waiting for literal hours for you to stop shopping.”

Parrot scoffed,”I didn’t take that long…”

They started at 12:00 AM. It was 3:00 PM now.

“Whatever, I’m just ready to get the hell out of here.”

”What if we went to—“

”NO.”

”Damn alright! We can leave.”

Wifies taps his foot, waiting for a customer. And soon enough, two people walk right in.

One of them seems familiar, but the other doesn’t.

He stares at a flower Lego set. The flower is a rose. He’s looked at that same Lego set about 100 times.

Why did he choose to work here again? He most definitely could find a better job. They don’t even pay him that well, which is shocking, because he has to work for almost 7 hours.

It’s horrible, but whatever.

The customers come up to the cashier. “Find everything you needed?” He hears himself ask. It’s engraved in his brain at this point.

When he gets a look at them better, he now knows who one of them are.

The one behind the yellow haired guy is Parrot. He thinks that Parrot is pretty. He doesn’t know who the other guy is though.

”Oh wait, I know you,”

Parrot started seeing Wifies around the university more after the Lego store incident.

Parrot watches from a distance, not wanting to talk to him but wanting to talk to him at the same time.

What Theo said to him really struck him. Did Wifies like him, or was Theo just misreading Wifies?

Parrot thought about that every night. Every single night.

One time he fell asleep thinking about it, and when he woke up he remembered dreaming about Wifies. He was down bad. Really down bad.

Every time he thinks about that conversation with Theo, he doesn’t think about how Wifies could like him and stuff like that, he thinks about why Wifies would choose him to like.

Parrot doesn’t think he’s that good looking. Sure, people have asked him out, but that doesn’t make him pretty. They could’ve just wanted him for his smarts.

A faint voice calls out his name in the background.

“Parrot?”

”Parrot,”

”Parrot.”

”Parrot!”

”PARROT!!”

The voice, is Theo’s. Parrot turns to see Theo , who looks annoyed.

”Yeah? What do you need?” Parrot asks. Theo literally looks like he’s going to slime Parrot out. “I’ve been calling your name for five minutes. What have you been daydreaming about.” Theo basically yells.

Parrot blushes. He was thinking about Wifies. “I was—“ Theo immediately notices the blush. “OHH! YOU WERE THINKING ABOUT YOUR LITTLE CRUSH ON WIFIES. CAN YOU LOCK IN?” Theo screams at him.

Parrot is unphased, he’s still half thinking about Wifies. “Yeah yeah. What do you need.”

“I was gonna ask if you were going to come eat lunch. It’s lunchtime you know. You can’t sit in the bathroom forever.”

Parrot blinks. He was just standing in the bathroom, leaning on the wall, looking at a black phone screen. “Oh, yeah. I’ll get going.”

They walk off to the cafeteria, unknowing that someone was listening in on their conversation.

Wifies isn’t a stalker.

Well, he kind of is. But it’s not that kind that stalk down your address and steal things from your house to put in a shire and stuff.

He just secretly follows Parrot around the campus. Some would say that that was stalker behavior, but Wifies just wanted to talk to him.

It’s not his fault that Parrot is always talking to someone.

But finally, he caught him alone. In the bathroom. He was in the locker room that’s connected to the bathroom.

He was going to talk to him, but always chickened out last minute. Right when he was sure he wasn’t going to chicken out, Theo came in and started saying Parrot’s name.

Parrot didn’t notice him though. Wifies couldn’t really see what was happening, so he was mostly unsure of what was actually going on.

Parrot finally noticed him though. “Yeah? What do you need?” He asked.

“I’ve been calling your name for the last five minutes. What have you been daydreaming about.”

”I was—“

Theo cuts him off before he can finish his sentence.

“OHH! YOU WERE THINKING ABOUT YOUR LITTLE CRUSH ON WIFIES. CAN YOU LOCK IN.”

And Wifies is flabbergasted. Parrot has a crush on him?

Maybe he does have a good chance.

Parrot is basically unphased about this, saying a simple “yeah yeah” and “what do you need?”

And then they left. Leaving Wifies in shock. Shock which quickly faded.

He could use this information to good use.

That sounds wrong. Wifies thinks. He’s not going to tell anyone. He’s just going to tease Parrot. Make him flustered.

Then he’s gonna tell him that he feels the same way.
