Chapter 1: Migraine

Chapter Text

Independent.

Curled up in the corner of his office, head pounding, even the dim light filtering through the slight gap under the door to the assaulting his eyes and making him regret every life choice he'd made, Tony couldn't help but scoff at the idea that he was ever considered independent. He was by force, having been made to prove himself from an early age, but that didn't mean he enjoyed it and in times like that moment, when a migraine hit and he was thinking of increasingly more creative ways to cut off his own head in vain hope of stopping the pain, he knew that he was the most clingy mess of a human to ever walk the planet.

"Tony, we were supposed to meet an hour ago," said Steve, entering the office and letting the harsh light of the hall in with him, causing Tony to groan in agony.

"Oh," said Steve softly, catching sight of his boyfriend in the corner before shutting the door and silently making his way over. "Baby what's wrong? Is it a migraine?"

Tony could respond verbally and did unwind a hand from his hair long enough to wrap his fingers in Steve's pressed short.

Steve had known that his boyfriend got mirgraines for a while, ever since that fateful Tuesday when Tony had been found curled up under the kitchen sink, so he knew the little he could do to help. By the looks of it, they would be best waiting the last hour of the work day out in the office with the lights off. When everyone on the floor had left, then Steve would take his bundle of miserable billionaire and bring put him to bed properly. Until then he could only try to make Tony more comfortable.

Moving with practiced ease, Steve leaned against the wall and brought Tony's head to rest on his thigh, the man's face pressed into his stomach to block out the light. Then Steve rested Tony's jacket over his dark hair to block out the remaining light. Finally, Steve sent out a message warning the others of their situation and how they would not be making it to the holiday party. Steve knew Tony hated the holiday party - mainly because he disliked the memories associated with the season - but felt bad about them having to miss it if it meant Tony was in pain.

Tony, on the other hand - while still thinking cutting his head off with a pai of rusty kitchen scissors would be less painful - knew that laying of the floor in pain with his boyfriend witnessing his moment of weakness was still better than any damned holiday party.
