June 21st, xxxx.
The very day that Kokichi Ouma, yes, the ultimate supreme leader, was given a life to live. Kokichi took his birthdays very, very seriously!
Kokichi woke up with the biggest grin he could possibly plaster on his face. Today was his birthday. Who could forget? Nobody! Because he reminded everyone, every single day of June. It bugged and annoyed people, but today was supposed to be a very important day, and his heart would be terribly broken if someone forgot!
Kokichi rolled off of his bed, hitting the floor, giggling, before getting up with wobbly arms, going to his closet to take one of his 53 checkered patterned scarfs. He bought exactly 53, and people sometimes think it's the same scarf every day. No, Kokichi isn't that unhygienic- but he's a little lazy when it comes to cleaning his scarves.
Kokichi straightened his clothes, stepped in the bathroom, stared at the mirror for a few seconds, and opened his drawer to pull out a curler he bought, like two years ago. He pressed a button that looked like it survived a war, the curler hissed, and then finally started producing heat. Slowly, he put one of his damp, straight strands of hair inside of the curler, doing it slowly, so he didn't accidentally mess up his iconic hair.
When Kokichi finished, he dropped the curler on the sink, splashed some water on his face, rubbed his eyes and dried it with a spare towel, stared at the mirror again, and ran out of his dorm when he seemed he looked like himself enough.
Stumbling, he closed the door behind him and skipped his way to the common room. He busted in, the door creating a loud banging sound as it recoiled. That attracted the attention of most students there, who weren't surprised when the cause of the noise was Kokichi.
“Kokichi? What has gotten you this excited?” Rantaro called out with a smile, which Kokichi found himself staring at for a little longer than nessacary. Kokichi might've forgotten that he hadn't told Rantaro, cause he was out adventuring for most of June. Kokichi cleared his throat, preparing to announce his favorite day of the year with a tone higher than he's ever reached before…
“Its my b—”
“— Happy birthday, Ouma-kun!”
Kaede interrupted, clapping her hands together with a smile Kokichi isn't exactly used to. Obviously, this caught Kokichi completely off guard, which was rare, but he quickly recovered and grinned. “Kayayday! Wow, you actually remembered!” Kokichi dramatically put a hand on his forehead as crocodile tears swelled in his eyes. “Wah! Kayayday, you are too nice!” He wiped a tear, before instantly switching up not even a few seconds later.
“You nagged everyone about it- why would she forget?” Maki said, her tone harsh. Kokichi chose to ignore that, however, throwing his arms up in the air and waving them around. “Omigod, where are my tens of thousands of gifts?!” Kokichi put a finger on his chin, pretending to think really hard about where his presents were. To be completely honest, he didn't even think he got presents to begin with!
“Well, um, about that,” Kaede trailed off, “Some people did get you something! Some didn't!” Kokichi's eyes lit up mischievously, “So, who got me a gift, and who didn't?” He asked her, which Kaede glanced to the side for a moment before replying firmly. “Okay, Haruwaka-san, Momota-kun, Shirogane-san, Himiko-chan, Tenko-chan, Korekiyo, and Hoshi-kun didn't get you anything, the rest did.” Kokichi gasped, “Cruel, oh, so cruel! Everyone should've gotten me something! I'll remember this, mark my words!”
Himiko shrugged. She didn't have any reason not to get something for Kokichi, unlike the others, but she was too tired and lazy. Anyway, Kokichi went up to the others who did and maybe in a not-so-polite way demanded them to give him the gifts.
“Give me my gift, you dumb slutty bitchlet!”
“D-D-Dumb slutty bitchlet…? Ugh, I'm coming you shithead!”
Miu - got him a… toy. Yeah, no way he was going to use that. Maybe keep it somewhere safe. (Why was he keeping it?)
Angie - She got Kokichi an Atua book or something. It was full of prayers she did. Kokichi was probably going to throw that away in his bin. But she did also get him a painting! That looked cool.
Rantaro - Amami gave Kokichi something he got while traveling to Canada. What confused him more was it looked somewhat decent. And a little note. Which he was going to read later.
Shuichi - he said he'll give it to Kokichi later. Kokichi wondered why he didn't give it to him now.
Kiibo - Unsurprisingly, he got Kokichi a book. Kokichi didn't really enjoy reading, but it was from Kii-boy, so of course he was going to keep it safe. Kiibo doesn't know that, though.
Gonta gave him… A bug. Kokichi hates bugs, they're creepy as shit. He didn't say anything, though.
Kirumi wasn't even here, so he'd have to wait for her. Maid girl, please get something better than whatever the rest has given him!
Kaede got him a sheet of music. Oh, no, it was a little bit valuable since she was probably the only person who knew that Kokichi could play some instruments. They played together once.
Kokichi seemed somewhat satisfied as he left the common room. With all his stuff he got. Except for some, like Gonta's present, and Miu's… Jeez, did she have some nerve giving him that! He was still wondering what Shuichi was going to give him, since he said later. He couldn't wait! He ran back to his dorm, unlocked the door, went inside and shoved all his gifts by his bed and came back outside and locked the door.
Mission Saihara. Remember where his dorm was. Kokichi didn't understand why Shuichi lived in dorms while his parents were mega-rich, had a house, and could probably buy Hopes Peak if they wanted to. Kokichi shrugged. He skipped through the hallway and finally found Saihara's dorm, which he didn't hesitate to bang on the door loudly. “Open up, Saihara-chan!” He yelled, almost oblivious to the people nearby.
A moment later, the door creaks open, and Shuichi is standing there, before he opens the door halfway. “Ouma-kun?” Kokichi cocked his head with a smirk, “Where's my gift! Chop chop, I want it right now, or I'll get my secret organization to kill you!” Shuichi laughed awkwardly, before he gestured Kokichi inside. Kokichi hasn't actually been in Shuichi's dorm, and when he steps in for the first time, he's not surprised by how messy it is.
“Okay, um…” Shuichi trails off, his face suddenly red. Kokichi doesn't get it. What is the gift, anyway? Shuichi walks over to a little bag, grabs it, and hands it over to Kokichi with a soft smile that makes Kokichi's stomach swirl painfully. “Can you, please, open that?” “Open that,” Kokichi repeated, though his voice was quieter. He obliged. He opened the bag and his cheeks started to feel warm.
It was purple-colored flowers and- WAS THAT GRAPE PANTA? Shuichi, you angel! Kokichi lifted his gaze from the bag to Shuichi's face, who was glancing away awkwardly. “Shuichi,” Kokichi called out, and his face got even redder, “You are sooo annoying, I love you,” Shuichi froze. His gaze instantly went to Kokichi the moment the words slipped from his lips. “W-What?”
Kokichi didn't mean to say that. That was too soon! He gripped the bag, stared at Shuichi, his face burning, and a slow smile plastered on his face. “I need to shit. I'm going to shit! Bye now, Saihara-chan!” He stammered, before taking a slow step with the gift, and running like his life depended on it. He could hear Shuichi say, “Wait”, but he didn't slow down! He was so doomed, he basically just confessed… and he meant every single word.
