Data, Lore and B-4 Soong were conceived by a powerful sorcerer, Noonian Soong and his wife, Lady Juliana who lived in quiet seclusion in a remote but peaceful settlement within the kingdom of Carmelard.
Although Noonian dreamed of a successful and prosperous future for his sons, the three brothers were raised in modest surroundings despite their father's considerable wealth. Their childhood was uneventful and somewhat idyllic, however when the brothers reached adolescence, a terrible catastrophe wrought by jealousy and revenge tore the family apart, and in the aftermath each son forged their own fate.
Now elderly and living as a lone hermit in a dense forest, Noonian observes the progress of his charges' lives through wise intuitive eyes and channels his wisdom to them using his unique telekinetic abilities.
