Work Text:
This is a post-event epilogue/closing ceremony. Skip to the end for the important bits if you don’t want to read.

Jade Mountain could be heard from miles away.
Inside, the mountain was a festivity hotspot; balloons and confetti sprawled everywhere that guaranteed somebody was going to have a long cleanup.
But these dragons were too busy living in the moment to think about the future, one of the main reasons being the banner hanging over the entrance to the Academy.
The banner read “Thank you, Domaystic WOF 2026 participants!” in cursive white script over a vibrant, crimson background. And below, in slightly smaller text, “Thank you for making this a true Wings of Home.”
Dragonets crowded around the newly installed stage in the prey centre, eagerly waiting for the show to begin.
The lights dimmed. The dragonets grew quiet.
Two spotlights shone upon two sets of scales: shifting rainbow and black.
“Thank you, everybody, for participating!” Kinkajou warbled as she picked up the microphone. “I was flattered to be asked to do the awards ceremony. But after all, I was one of the most-appearing characters in the fics, so they naturally chose me.”
Peacemaker’s grin was wide as he took over. “Kinkajou appeared in six of the eighteen fics. So did Moonwatcher and Winter.”
A cheer rose from the dragonets as the two aforementioned dragons were lifted by Qibli into the air.
“Put me down!” Winter hissed. “You are embarrassing us!”
“Buuut Winter didn’t want to, and Moon was too shy, so the role fell on me,” Kinkajou continued. “Oh, and yes, six of a total of eighteen fics. Much better turnout than I expected.” Her eyes grew misty. “I can’t believe all these scavengers — er, humans — liked me so much. Actually, I can.”
“Alright,” Peacemaker grumbled. “Let’s move on to the stats.”
“You’re just jealous you didn’t appear,” Kinkajou teased.
“ANYWAYS,” Peacemaker interrupted. “Eighteen fics. Fourteen prompts. Eleven prompters. Ten authors.”
“And what about tags?” a random unimportant side character shouted.
“Thank you for the question, totally not paid actor,” Kinkajou answered. “This is not scripted AT ALL, by the way. The most common additional tag, after Domestic Fluff and Fluff, was Cuddling & Snuggling! Which is what I’m going to do with Winty tonight!”
“No, you’re not,” Winter grumbled.
“The most common relationship tag, featured three times, was Anemone/Tamarin!” Kinkajou continued, shooting a sly glance at the two dragonets cuddling in the corner. “Hey, pay attention, lovebirds!”
“Shut up!” Anemone complained as Tamarin turned pink with embarrassment.
“I’ve already said who stars in the most fics,” Kinkajou went on, “And no prizes for guessing the most written fandom. But F/F edged in front of F/M by one fic, seven and six respectively. Personally, I love a good yuri. M/M, in contrast, only got four.”
“And now for the awards!” Peacemaker announced grandly. “Which nobody expected, except for one of you, who the creator of the challenge spoiled to!”
“That’s right! The raters of these fics aren’t very good at writing anyway so take these awards with a grain of salt,” Kinkajou agreed. “First category, Fluffiest Fic! The winner is Slothbaby and the Three Tired Bisexuals by ScribbleJay!”
“Second category, Best Writing!” Peacemaker cheered. “This not only looks at punctuation and grammar, but also how the story flows. The winner is, It’s Been a Long Time, but the Water’s Still Warm by IPCAS!”
“Third and final category, Most Creative!” Kinkajou did a drum roll by flapping her wings together. “The winner is You’re the sun of my moon by Aligma_Sundance!”
“That’s not all!” Kinkajou said. “I’d also like to give some fics a shout-out.”
She looked conspiratorially to one side, whispering.
“By the way, if you don’t want your fic here in this, just leave a comment and your fic will be removed.”
“What?” Peacemaker asked. “I didn’t quite catch that.”
“Nothing, nothing,” Kinkajou beamed at him. “I’d first like to give a shout-out to Broken walls, and healing hearts by Snake_Serpentine_Stories! It’s always unique to have some art, and I loved the use of colour.”
Peacemaker nodded vigorously. “Art is always a bonus. The second shout-out is for the fic with the highest total score. Well done, again, It’s Been a Long Time, but the Water’s Still Warm by IPCAS!”
The curtains began to close on the stage.
“That’s all for today, folks,” Kinkajou said sadly. “Make sure to come back next year. Oh, and I nearly forgot — if you’d like, change the post date of your fic to 5 June, when your works were revealed. And here is the html for the participation badge. You can put it on your profile, and you can change the size by editing ‘width’. Hopefully AO3 increases the character limit for bios soon, to allow for more badges.”

“HTML for the award badges will be posted in the comments of the winning fics,” Peacemaker ended. “A last thank you to everybody who participated, and also Basecat, who helped rate the fics with us.”
And with that, the curtains closed.
“Thank you all!” Kinkajou said, poking her head through the red fabric. “I love you!” She blew a kiss, and the crowd went wild.
