Forever sound easy with you

Summary:

Reo Mikage has planned almost everything in his life.

His wedding day, however, is proving to be a different story.

Between nervous breakdowns, chaotic teammates, and a groom who somehow slept through half the morning, Reo begins to wonder if he'll make it to the altar with his sanity intact.

Thankfully, Nagi Seishiro only has one thing on his mind:

Marrying Reo.

A wedding day filled with love, laughter, and the people who watched them grow together.

Work Text:

The first sign that something was wrong was that Reo Mikage was awake before his alarm.

Not just awake.

Staring at the ceiling.

At five in the morning.

On his wedding day.

The room was quiet except for the soft hum of the air conditioner and the distant sounds of Tokyo waking up. Sunlight slipped through the curtains in pale gold streaks.

Reo groaned and rolled over, burying his face into a pillow.

"Great."

Today was the day.

The day he was supposed to marry Nagi Seishiro.

The day every magazine, sports reporter, and football fan had been predicting for years.

The day he'd imagined a thousand different ways.

And somehow, now that it was actually here, he felt like he was going to throw up.

A knock sounded at the door.

"Reo."

Reo immediately recognized the voice.

"Go away, Sae."

The door opened anyway.

Because of course it did.

Standing there was Sae Itoshi, dressed perfectly despite it being far too early in the morning.

"You look terrible."

"Thank you."

"You have eye bags."

"Thank you."

"You seem nervous."

"Thank you."

Sae stared at him.

Reo stared back.

Then Sae sighed.

"You'll be fine."

Reo blinked.

"...That was surprisingly nice."

"Don't get used to it."

And with that, Sae left.

Reo couldn't help laughing.

Maybe he would survive today.

---

Meanwhile, in another part of the hotel—

Nagi was asleep.

Very asleep.

Dangerously asleep.

The kind of asleep where a small earthquake might not wake him.

Unfortunately for him, Yoichi Isagi had been assigned the mission of making sure the groom actually arrived at his own wedding.

"Wake up."

No response.

"Nagi."

Nothing.

"Nagi."

Still nothing.

Isagi sighed.

Then grabbed a pillow.

WHACK.

Nagi sat upright instantly.

"What happened?"

"Your wedding."

"Oh."

Nagi blinked.

"Right."

Then he fell backward onto the mattress again.

"Five more minutes."

"NAGI."

---

By eight o'clock, chaos had completely taken over.

Bachira was running around taking pictures.

Chigiri was trying to stop Bachira from climbing on furniture.

Barou had already threatened three people.

Aryu had spent thirty minutes fixing his hair.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, Nagi somehow remained the calmest person present.

He sat in front of a mirror while someone adjusted his tie.

"Are you nervous?" Isagi asked.

"No."

"Excited?"

"A little."

"Worried?"

"No."

Isagi stared.

"How are you this calm?"

Nagi considered it.

Then smiled softly.

"Because it's Reo."

As if that explained everything.

Maybe it did.

---

The ceremony was scheduled for noon.

The venue overlooked the ocean.

Large glass windows surrounded the building, allowing sunlight to flood the room.

White flowers decorated every aisle.

Elegant but not overwhelming.

Exactly the way Reo wanted it.

Guests slowly filled their seats.

Family.

Friends.

Teammates.

Former rivals.

People who had watched Nagi and Reo's relationship grow over the years.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement.

No one could believe this day had actually arrived.

---

Back in a private room—

Reo stood in front of a mirror.

For once, he had no words.

No plans.

No strategies.

No speeches.

Just nerves.

A quiet knock interrupted his thoughts.

"Come in."

The door opened.

Nagi stepped inside.

Both immediately froze.

Technically they weren't supposed to see each other before the ceremony.

Technically.

Unfortunately, nobody had remembered to tell Nagi that.

"Hi."

"Nagi!"

"What?"

"We aren't supposed to—"

"Oh."

Nagi looked genuinely surprised.

"Really?"

"Yes!"

"That sounds inconvenient."

Reo laughed despite himself.

Only Nagi could accidentally break wedding traditions and somehow make it seem reasonable.

For a moment neither spoke.

Then Nagi stepped closer.

His expression softened.

"You look nice."

Reo's heart immediately betrayed him.

"You're not supposed to say things like that before the ceremony."

"Why?"

"I don't know."

"Sounds like a dumb rule."

Reo snorted.

"Maybe."

Nagi smiled.

Then gently reached for his hand.

"Don't worry."

Reo looked up.

Nagi's grip tightened slightly.

"I'll still be there in twenty minutes."

The ridiculous simplicity of the statement nearly made Reo emotional.

Because that was Nagi.

No dramatic speeches.

No grand declarations.

Just certainty.

Just honesty.

Just—

I'll still be there.

And somehow that meant everything.

---

The ceremony began.

Music echoed softly throughout the venue.

Guests rose from their seats.

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Suddenly everything felt real.

Nagi stood at the front.

Hands in his pockets.

Looking surprisingly composed.

Beside him stood Isagi.

Across the room, Bachira was already crying.

Nobody knew why.

The wedding hadn't even properly started yet.

Then the doors opened.

And Reo entered.

The room collectively forgot how to breathe.

Even Nagi.

Especially Nagi.

Because Reo looked beautiful.

Elegant.

Confident.

Happy.

The kind of happy that lit up an entire room.

Their eyes met.

Neither looked away.

The rest of the walk felt like a blur.

Before long, Reo was standing beside him.

Exactly where he belonged.

---

The officiant began speaking.

Most people listened.

Nagi did not.

He was busy staring at Reo.

Eventually Reo noticed.

"Stop looking at me."

"Why?"

"People are watching."

"So?"

Reo felt himself turning red.

The officiant cleared his throat.

Loudly.

The entire venue laughed.

---

Eventually it was time for vows.

Reo went first.

Which immediately felt unfair.

Because now he had to speak.

In front of everyone.

Wonderful.

He took a breath.

Then looked at Nagi.

And suddenly the nerves disappeared.

"When I met you, I thought I'd found a football genius."

Soft laughter spread throughout the room.

Reo smiled.

"But somewhere along the way..."

His voice softened.

"You became so much more than that."

Nagi's expression changed.

Becoming gentler.

Warmer.

"You were my best friend before anything else."

Reo continued.

"The person who stayed beside me through victories and failures."

His eyes glistened.

"The person who taught me that some things matter more than winning."

Silence filled the room.

Emotional silence.

The good kind.

"I don't know what the future looks like."

Reo admitted.

"But I know I want every version of it."

He squeezed Nagi's hands.

"As long as you're there."

Several guests were openly crying now.

Including Bachira.

Still.

---

Then it was Nagi's turn.

Which terrified everyone.

Because Nagi and speeches did not get along.

At all.

He accepted the microphone.

Stared at it.

Then stared at Reo.

Then sighed.

"Hassle."

The room erupted with laughter.

Even Reo.

Nagi smiled.

Then continued.

"When I first met Reo..."

He paused.

"...I thought he was weird."

More laughter.

"He kept talking to me."

"Rude," Reo muttered.

Nagi ignored him.

"But he changed my life."

The room immediately quieted.

Nagi wasn't smiling anymore.

His expression had become serious.

Rarely serious.

The kind of serious that only appeared when he truly meant something.

"I didn't care about much back then."

He admitted.

"Football."

Pause.

"Games."

Pause.

"Sleeping."

The audience laughed again.

"Mostly sleeping."

Nagi looked directly at Reo.

"But then I cared about you."

The words landed heavily.

Simple.

Honest.

Entirely Nagi.

"You made everything more interesting."

His voice softened.

"You made me want to try."

Reo felt tears threatening to appear.

Dangerous.

Very dangerous.

"You stayed."

Nagi said quietly.

"Even when things got difficult."

The room had gone completely silent.

"And if you stayed through all of that..."

He smiled.

"I think we can handle the rest."

By now half the venue was crying.

Even Barou looked suspiciously emotional.

Though nobody would mention it.

For safety reasons.

---

The vows ended.

The rings followed.

Then came the final question.

"Do you—"

Everyone already knew the answer.

Still.

Tradition.

"—take each other to be partners for life?"

"I do," Reo answered immediately.

"I do," Nagi replied.

The officiant smiled.

Then spoke the words everyone had been waiting for.

"You may kiss."

The room exploded into applause.

Cheers.

Whistles.

Celebration.

And as Nagi pulled Reo closer—

For a moment, the rest of the world disappeared.

No football.

No pressure.

No expectations.

Just them.

Exactly where they were meant to be.

---

The reception was chaos.

Predictable chaos.

The best kind.

Music filled the room.

People danced.

Laughed.

Shared stories.

Bachira gave a speech that somehow included aliens.

Nobody understood.

Not even Bachira.

Aryu gave fashion advice.

Barou complained about everything.

Isagi attempted to maintain order.

Failed immediately.

Meanwhile, Nagi and Reo sat together watching it all.

Comfortable.

Content.

Happy.

Eventually Reo leaned against him.

"Tired?"

Nagi asked.

"A little."

"Me too."

Neither moved.

The evening continued around them.

But neither particularly cared.

Because after all the years.

After Blue Lock.

After victories.

After losses.

After every challenge they had faced together—

They had finally reached this moment.

And somehow it felt easy.

Not because love was easy.

Not because relationships were easy.

But because being together was.

As natural as breathing.

As natural as football.

As natural as coming home.

Nagi rested his head against Reo's shoulder.

A small smile appearing on his face.

"Hey, Reo."

"Yeah?"

"I'm glad it was you."

Reo's heart nearly melted on the spot.

He laughed softly.

Then intertwined their fingers.

"Me too."

Outside, the sun slowly disappeared beyond the ocean.

Inside, surrounded by friends, teammates, and people who cared about them—

The future stretched endlessly ahead.

And for the first time in a long time—

Neither of them was worried about what came next.

Because whatever happened...

They would face it together.

Forever.
