Summary
Lee Chan has spent his whole life being looked through. His parents, with no room for a son, forgot his birthday years ago. His ex-boyfriend convinced him that pain is love. His best friend sabotaged his career for a promotion. By the time Chan lands a job in the mailroom of Yoon Holdings, he's stopped expecting anyone to see him.
Then Yoon Jeonghan notices him. Jeonghan – cold, calculating, the favoured son in a war of succession – is convinced Chan is a spy sent by his political rival sister. He torments Chan with every petty cruelty he can conjure.
But Chan doesn't run. He can't. Because Jeonghan looks at him. Even the cruelty feels like warmth.
So he gains the upper hand – sort of. The arrangement is supposed to be transactional. The problem is that Jeonghan doesn't know how to be gentle, and Chan doesn't know how to believe in kindness. But as Chan's hollow obedience cracks and Jeonghan's cruelty falters, they realise they've both been surviving rather than living.
