Work Header

nothing gets done in the north

Summary:

never a boring day in The North, with the exception of meetings.
Vegetta drags the members of The North to a meeting, no one cares, no one wants to be there, so obviously no one’s paying attention.

Not paying attention whatever Vegetta is saying, at least.

OR

Second In Command shenanigans ensure as usual, and what happens when those pranks go too far

Notes:

I had this one sitting in the drafts and noticed the sharkflower fics were almost at 100, so I locked in and finished editing it :P
have fun!

Chapter Text

The sun was high in the sky, with clouds dotting a sea of bright blue that hung over Quesadilla Island. A nice breeze flowed throughout Casa Del Norte, passing through to cool its residents, who were unfortunately stuck in one of King Vegetta’s long and boring planning meetings.

“I’m assigning more positions now that we’ve made significant progress on building Casa Del Norte,” Vegetta announced.

Tina sighed, putting her arm up on the table to lean her head on it. Vegetta had these long, winding monologues that would take ages to get through, especially for something as important as this.
She looked over at Foolish, Juan, and Aldo, who looked equally exhausted and bored. Foolish and Juan seemed to have given up on glaring at each other across the table, and Juan had fallen asleep. Aldo was watching the music video for Strategy, by Twice on his phone (which Tina agrees is much more important than whatever Vegetta was going on about).

Tina had zero clue how Vegetta hadn’t noticed, but whatever works, she supposed.

Foolish seemed to be very focused on a card tower he was working on. Every time he would get close to finishing it, Aldo would look over and give the table a little kick, completely scattering the cards. Foolish would glare at him, and just rebuild the tower.

Vegetta went on and on, it went in one ear and out the other, “… and so Tina, I’m putting you in our war department, as Sub General,” Vegetta said.

“What?” Tina asked, before quickly covering her mouth. She had no idea what he said beforehand, so she didn’t want to ask why. She looked up at him and nodded, and Vegetta went on, not having noticed what Tina said.

Tina looked across the table to see Foolish about two seconds from bursting out laughing. He clearly noticed she had absolutely no idea what Vegetta said. Tina sent him a nasty glare, and he almost doubled over, letting out a little giggle, and covering it up with a fake coughing fit.

Vegetta paused for a moment, looking between the two, before continuing on.

Tina kicked Foolish under the table.

“Ow! What would you do that for?!” The shark totem yelled. This time, it was Aldo’s turn to giggle and hold back laughter as he saw Tina turn red-faced, and a sinister grin flash on Foolish’s face, before going back to an expression of hurt.

“TINA! FOOLISH!” Vegetta yelled. “Seriously guys. These are important matters at hand.”

“Sorry, we’re paying attention,” Tina chirped back.

Tina looked up, realizing something.

Everyone had gone quiet. Aldo was holding back laughter, Juan was silent, but

Foolish was plotting.

Tina watched as Foolish reached across the table, towards where Juan was sitting. The man looked to be the epitome of peace, a calm expression on his face as he leaned back in his chair and quietly slept. Foolish leaned closer towards him, and as quietly as possible, without grabbing the attention of Vegetta, took his only pencil.

Aldo laughed but covered it up with a cough as Foolish scrambled back to make it look as if he wasn’t doing anything.

When Vegetta turned back, Foolish reached once again towards the sleeping man. He lightly tapped Juan. enough to wake him up, but not cause a commotion.

When the brunette was conscious enough to be aware of what was happening, Foolish tapped him once again, pointed towards the pencil, dangled it over his open mouth, and ate it.

Foolish ate Juan’s pencil.

“CABRÓN!” Juan whisper-shouted, and grabbed Foolish before he could start chewing up the pencil. Aldo and Tina watched on in amusement as Juan attempted to pry open Foolish’s mouth to get the pencil back, and Foolish fought his grip.

The quiet scuffle went unnoticed by Vegetta, who was too busy drawing out and explaining his plans for further building additions to the north.

Every so often, he would turn towards Aldo to check, somehow not noticing the chaos just behind him, and Aldo would give an assuring nod that everyone was paying attention.

“¡Pendejo monstro! ¡Dámelo!” Juan snarled.

Foolish opened his mouth and quickly grabbed the pencil out, holding it up high and wiggling it above Juan’s head, where it was just out of reach, so Juan had to try to jump up to reach it.

“Over my dead body,” he retorted, a stupid smirk appearing on his face.

This only served to ignite Juan’s anger further.

“¡ESTÚPIDO TIBURÓN!! YOU IDIOT MONSTER GIVE ME THAT,” Juan finally yelled.

Tina jumped in her seat, looking back and forth between the two, and Aldo burst out laughing, out of breath and practically crying.

At this point, Vegetta very much noticed what was going on, but was too baffled to say anything.

Foolish dropped the pencil into his mouth. Juan attempted to grab it and missed it, to his defeat.

Foolish was about to bite down, before Juan leaned across the table, inches from Foolish

                   and kissed him.

Foolish’s mouth opened in shock, and Juan reached in, grabbing his pencil. He held it up triumphantly and leaned back to sit down, before he was grabbed by the collar by Foolish.

The shark totem smashed their lips together for what felt like minutes, before pulling back. As Juan fell back against his chair, breathless, confused, and feeling something he couldn’t unpack yet, Foolish dashed out of the room.

As soon as he pulled away, Foolish sped out, almost taking his chair with him, leaving it spinning at light speed.

Juan, finally readjusted, looked at everyone left. He glanced at Aldo, Tina, and Vegetta, all expressions of surprise on their faces, before deciding he was going to bolt too.

“Juan, wait!” Tina called out, but before he heard her, he was already out the door.

In his run towards his room, Juan smacked right into Foolish’s chest. He paused, surprised, and looked up to see the now deep-amber colored face of a familiar totem. Juan turned as red as a tomato.

“Hola, Juan,” Foolish tried.

“¡Adios, Foolish!” Juan exclaimed, dashing towards his room.

“Juan, wait!” Foolish paused for a moment, deciding whether or not to go after him, before taking a breath and running towards Juan’s room.
