   Summary

The morning after Athux sees her face for the first time, Mez'iraejss returns to her oldest disciplines to put herself back together, only to discover that one of them no longer holds where he's concerned. Around her moves the whole architecture of House Mizzrym, hierarchy, surveillance, and her own carefully maintained obscurity, none of which prepares her for what she finds waiting in her own vault once the day's performance is finally done.
