Chapter Text

Kris Dreemurr felt like they were more than tired, after walking Susie to her 'home' it seemed like time stood still for them. Words that Susie said repeated in their head, it all felt like things came crashing down on them at once.

"You and me... make a pretty good team, right? I've... just been thinking about that. Thinking about us..."
In Kris' head, they were definitely more than inclined to agree. Susie definitely sprung herself into their quiet life, even if their life wasn't momentarily theirs at the moment.. they could tell themselves that they were finally happy.
"Since that day in the closet.." Kris looked up at Susie's stature, their hair hiding their curious gaze as Susie continued to speak. "Since our first adventure.. Kind of feels like... all this has been..."
"Our special... Kris and Susie thing. Our thing that no one can take away."
"Our secret. Our adventures. Our thing that's just better." Kris felt themselves FEEL. For once the SOUL didn't seem to be interfering with their life. They didn't move in Susie's eyes, but if they had a tail it would be clearly wagging at what she was saying. They were happy to hear what she was saying, what she felt towards their adventures together and Ralsei.
"You feel the same way, right, Kris?" They nodded, with a little more gusto in the action than normal. This was something important to them too. "...yeah." Susie hid her big smirk by raising her arm to cover her face, not wanting to let Kris have this one.

The two made their way inside the school, a dimly lit hallway in front of them both as they stepped inside.. and on either side of them were the classrooms where the teacher's they both knew taught. It didn't seem like much to Susie, but the way Kris walked up to the closet that housed Castle Town, while trailing Susie screamed of them being happy.

"I guess.. what I want to say is.." Kris perked up at Susie's trailing words. "Kris, this can't just be our 'adventures' anymore."
Kris' blank face stayed blank, not like Susie was even looking at them anyway.
"People are.. in actual danger." Susie's hands seemed to grip tighter as she stared at the closet. "Your dad, is in actual danger. We can't mess up anymore." Her hair draped over her eyes when she looked down in a temporary defeat.
"We have to tell someone." Okay.. to them that was fair, but why did they suddenly begin to feel.. weird? Why did their chest tighten so suddenly? Why did they want to clutch at their heart like they wanted to claw it out?
"Someone closer to the Shelter codes." It was lucky that Kris' eyes weren't visible. Because it felt like to them they held a hidden rage at the mention of someone closer. That could only mean someone.. they both knew, someone who had already experienced the Dark World as well.
"Someone who can help us fight! Kris, this can't just be a me and you thing.. it needs to be.. Noelle's thing too." There it was. Her admission, her choice of words that suddenly slapped across their face like a sting.

Susie walked up to the closet, opening it slowly and turning to face Kris as she paused midwalk through fully entering. "Kris.." A smile adorned on her face, a sweet smile. One Kris had seen before, many times. Back during the happier times

Susie began to slowly close the closet, still smiling at her friend. Her first friend in the town, and the first friend she seemed to leave behind. "Thanks for walking me home." Click. The door to the closet closed just like that, leaving Kris alone. A familiar feeling, but this time something seemed to continue clawing at their chest, their heart. Sure maybe their SOUL, but it wasn't that. It was.. a sinking sense of familiarity of being left behind.

Sure, they might be used to the feeling. But it never stopped hurting. They continued to stare at the closet door until a soft vibration was felt from their pocket. When they checked it, it barely lit up their face. All it read were a lot of missed calls from their mom. Guilt slowly tore through them as they turned on their heel and ran out of the school. They needed to get out of there. They needed to get somewhere familiar.

And just like a cruel way of fate, it began to rain. Kris ran, and ran, through Home Town. Passing through all the buildings, and not making their way back home.. but back to Flower King. They entered through the front this time, and approached into the room with the seven flowers.

Flashes of today's events passed through their mind, they fell to their knees in front of the six cases holding the flowers. They didn't know why, but they had felt a connection to all of them when they all met. It was bittersweet, like the entire day was.
"P-please-" Their voice called out, grabbing their knife out of their inventory. They stared at each flower, sure that all of them could see the look on their face. Tears were already streaming down like a waterfall. Kris stood up and began to close each door tightly, this would be their own chance to have ANY sort of reprieve. The entire day was just gnawing at them.
