Jacket glanced around as he took in the noise, the crowd, the people. Everything was so loud and bright and there was so much going on. He let out a small whimper and leaned his head down on his knees, curling into himself. The fabric of his jacket was normally soft but his clothes suddenly felt like nails. Wolf sat down in the seat next to him and splayed a hand across his back gently. He hummed as he tried to soothe the blonde veteran.
Dallas had bought the gang tickets to go to a musical to celebrate the recent heist. It was supposed to be relaxing, bonding. To Jacket it was a nightmare. From the minute he walked in. He had been forced to leave his pocket knife, a comfort item, at home. They had to pull him aside at the metal detector to check him due to his boots setting the machine off. The one fucking night he wore steel toes instead of his fish head hightops. There was a sea of people, all talking or laughing or making some fucking noise. It was so damn loud. Every noise was a nail in his ear drum.
Aside from the noise he was still upset, his knee hurt, his back ached with his breath, he was overstimulated, and he hated musicals. With a passion. He’d hated them since his early teens but it only grew with age. And now he felt trapped. Anger bubbled in his gut. It was the emotion that normally followed fear, guilt, or that painful sensation he got when the lights were too bright and sounds too loud. It was the only emotion Jacket knew well besides Grief and Depression. Numb isn’t truly an emotion but Jacket would’ve counted it if it was.
The flashing lights started and Jacket began pulling on his own hair. It was too much. His eyes hurt, his brain was too much, and the lights were making him dizzy. Wolf began whispering gently to the stressed blonde.
“Shhhh, it’s okay, it’s gonna be okay, you’re okay,” Wolf said as he slid his hands under Jacket’s arms. He pulled the man up and quickly escorted him out, carefully stepping past guests and shooting Dallas a look. Dallas nodded in return and slid his arm around his girlfriend. Wolf didn’t mind leaving early, he didn’t particularly care for that musical. All he cared about right now was keeping his mate safe and happy. His entire focus was on calming his boy.
When the fresh air and quiet hit Jacket like a wave he started silently sobbing. The world was on fire and it hurt so bad. The tears only lasted a minute before he managed to calm himself and Wolf began leading Jacket by a fingertip. Jacket followed his lover outside and back to the getaway van, chasing the comforting scent of his mate and warm embrace he knew was waiting. He followed him up the small steps and to the elevator and leaned on Wolf as the elevator ascended. When they finally got into the garage floor the pair sprinted towards the black and red car.
As soon as the back doors to Twitch’s car swung up Jacket practically threw himself inside, not caring about the cold floor or tools he had to push aside. All his mind went to was the cuddle waiting for him. Very few knew this from experience, but Wolf is a great hugger. He loves to snuggle up with people and hold them tight. He’s also a good cuddle partner, in Jacket’s opinion, because he’s heavy, like a weighted blanket.
The van dipped slightly as Wolf crawled inside and pulled the doors shut behind himself. The second they were closed he shuffled over or Jacket and laid on him. He slotted his arms under Jacket’s armpits and nuzzled into his neck. One hand went to stroke Jacket’s hair while the other rubbed his back. He breathed deeply into Jacket’s neck and planted a gentle kiss on it.
It took a few minutes for Jacket to calm down fully, but eventually his chest rose and fell steadily, his muscles relaxed, and the exhaustion hit him. There was a certain drain that came after being overstimulated. A deep soul aching fatigue that encompasses you like a net. It didn’t help that he had his own personal heated and weighted blanket laying right on top of him.
He didn’t know when he fell asleep. The only thing Jacket knew was that he woke up in Wolf’s arms, warm and humid hitting his face. He cracked open an eye to look around and saw he was being carried by Wolf bridal style. He quickly closed the eye to not get caught.
A deep rumbling laugh came from the Swedish technician as he carried his smaller lover into the safehouse and down the steps. “I know you’re awake, kyckling.” Wolf said in an almost hum. The voice he used when putting his kids to bed, whispering stupid things to his canines, or when he knew Jacket was sleepy.
Finally the pair arrived at their room and Wolf hip bumped the door shut as he walked through. He swiftly made his way to the bed to lay his lover down before stripping off his jeans and joining him. No matter how late or how tired, Wolf never slept in jeans. Which amused the Blonde who slept almost exclusively in jeans.
The two curled up together comfortably, Jacket resting his head over Wolf’s heart, Wolf putting his chin on Jacket’s head. He clicked through channels until he found the science channel running a rerun of myth busters. Jacket loved myth busters and how it's made. Stupid but educational shows that he could watch endlessly. It calmed his brain to be able to follow the logic of things, and pick things apart piece by piece until they made sense.
Within a few minutes Wolf was snoring loudly, like an old dog. Jacket’s eye lids felt heavy again as he pressed a final kiss to Wolf’a chest. Goodnight, Canine Predator. He thought as his mind drifted into the abyss of dreamless sleep.
