Work Text:

1. Quick kiss

Ness and Kaiser are last in the locker rooms. Everyone else went to dinner, leaving them behind.

Ness is rifling through his bag, checking to make sure he has all his and Kaiser’s things before they can leave. While he searches, he rambles about the new anime he picked up from Twitter while Kaiser waits at his side.

“They draw their spells, which isn’t uncommon, but it’s actually about the ink—it’s like a whole new type of magic!” He says excitedly, zipping up his bag. “The animation is incredible too—”

Kaiser tilts Ness’s head up and kisses him.

Ness freezes.

The kiss is brief, but makes his head dizzy all the same.

Kaiser pulls back, expression unreadable. Ness feels like he failed a test he didn't even know he was taking.

“You coming?”

Ness realizes he was standing still, slack-jawed. By then, Kaiser is at the door, staring expectantly. He quickly joins him.

“Yeah!”

Kaiser doesn’t say anything about it at dinner, nor does he act off. He eats like usual, pestering Ness when he takes too long and sneaks bites off his plate when he isn't looking.

Afterwards, they walk to their dorms and part ways for the night. There’s nothing special about it, nothing even slightly out of the ordinary.

The kiss was so strange, Ness convinces himself he imagined it. For his own wellbeing if nothing else.

2. Sleepy kiss

It had been a few days since Kaiser kissed him—assuming Ness didn’t hallucinate it. But he hadn’t kissed him since, so Ness continued with his regular routine.

He knocks gently on Kaiser’s door before letting himself in. As expected, the blonde is still asleep in a tangle of blankets.

Ness detours to the bathroom and turns on the shower. He tests the water temperature with his fingers before deeming the gradual rise of heat enough. By the time he manages to get Kaiser out of bed, it should be sufficiently hot.

Ness exits, and touches the mass of fabric lightly. “Kaiser, it’s time to wake up.”

Instead of burrowing in deeper like usual, a fist emerges from the blankets and pulls him in.

Ness steadies himself with a hand on Kaiser’s mattress, barely keeping him from crashing into the blonde.

“Kai—”

The kiss is nice and gentle, if not a little clumsy.

Kaiser pulls back, eyes half-lidded and expression drowsy.

“Mornin’ Ness.”

“M-morning,” Ness stutters back.

He’s still leaning over Kaiser, blankets gripped between whitening knuckles. The blonde doesn’t even seem to notice, forcing himself awake with sleepy blinks as his heavy eyelids shut over and over.

The sight reminds Ness of a kitten startling itself awake.

He thinks he should move—whether that be backward away from Kaiser or forward into another kiss, Ness doesn’t know.

“Did’ya start the shower for me?” Kaiser mumbles, breaking him from his crisis.

This is easy, familiar. Ness slips into his obedient role on autopilot.

“I did. It should be warm now.”

Kaiser jerks his head in what’s likely supposed to be a nod. “Good.”

He rolls out of bed and shuffles to the bathroom while Ness is still too flustered to ask questions.

3. Drunk kiss

Ness wants to ask—he really does, but his thoughts always slip away from him so easily, especially when liquor is involved.

Kaiser, tipsy, pulls him in. Their lips brush teasingly, until they finally slot together.

Group happy hour had ended a while ago, their teammates calling it a night shortly after. Ness had wanted to retire early as well, but Kaiser wanted to stay and drink some more, and where Kaiser went, Ness followed.

Thank god he did.

Unlike the other kisses, Kaiser demands more with this one. With a hand on his chin, Ness’s mouth is pushed open.

Ness gasps as Kaiser’s tongue slides over his, making him chuckle, low and throaty. Ness expected things to kick up a notch, but Kaiser seemed content. He licks around Ness’s mouth, mapping it with his tongue. Ness cautiously moves his tongue as well, allowing it to reach into his mouth. Kaiser withdraws a bit, and Ness briefly panics before he feels Kaiser suck on his tongue.

Electricity crackles up his spine, and Ness barely keeps himself from moaning, instead letting out a startled “Mm?”

If Kaiser’s amused expression means anything, Ness has already been found out.

“I…”

“Easy,” Kaiser chastises, giving him a close-mouthed kiss. “Relax a bit.”

Ness doesn’t think he could ever truly relax after that, not while Kaiser is still staring at him with those cyan eyes, but he’s always listened to Kaiser. If he tells him to relax, Ness's body will obey.

“Good boy,” Kaiser breathes.

Ness trembles a little as Kaiser presses another kiss to his lips. There’s no tongue this time around, just Kaiser’s lips slotting against his and a slow and sloppy rhythm that persuades him to unwind.

4. Soft kisses

It’s their day off, and when Kaiser requested he join him in his room, Ness had expected them to go over football highlights or strategize or maybe even watch a movie, not—

“You still in there, Ness?” Kaiser teases, pulling away from his neck.

Ness manages out an affirming hum, or at least he thinks he does. Either way, Kaiser smiles and presses another kiss to his lips.

He kisses him lightly, pecking him several times before giving him a lingering kiss. His lips slide against his just right, and Ness trembles as Kaiser rubs circles into his waist.

There’s no way to describe this kiss other than sweet.

Ness can barely catch his breath as Kaiser pulls back, his inhale shaky once he feels his lips skim across his jaw. Those same lips press just under his ear, and Ness shivers.

He can feel Kaiser’s smile against his skin, and that, more than anything else tonight, makes his face fill with heat.

Kaiser notices—of course he does, his emperor’s special awareness is unrivaled—and drifts to scatter kisses across the apples of his cheeks where the heat is most centered.

These kisses have to mean something. No one would kiss their friend teammate servant  acquaintance like this.

He knows he should really, really ask, but then Kaiser’s hands stroke his sides while his lips skim over his neck and Ness is a pile of goo.

He melts into his emperor’s arms, weak and pliant as Kaiser meets his lips again and again.

5. Victory kiss

Still high on their latest victory, Ness follows Kaiser to his room.

He’s in the middle of vocally replaying Kaiser’s winning goal when he’s suddenly shoved up against the wall.

Kaiser meets him in a clash of spit and teeth, trying to consume him. It’s far different than any of the kisses they’ve shared before, and Ness grips Kaiser’s shoulder, trying to keep up.

Fingers make their way into his hair, tangling themselves in magenta strands as another hand squeezes his hip.

Ness clutches Kaiser’s shirt, fabric bunching between his hands as he tries not to lose himself too much.

Kaiser’s mouth is hot and demanding against his own, and Ness shudders as a probing tongue licks every crevice of his mouth. He presses back cautiously, then more boldly as Kaiser hums into the kiss.

“Good boy, Ness,” rumbles out of his chest, making him dizzy.

Emboldened, Ness tries to copy Kaiser’s movements. Their tongues slide together, and electricity crackles beneath his skin.

His actions are sloppier and imprecise, but Kaiser didn’t seem to care.

The hand on his hip squeezes it once before traveling to trace his spine. The feeling makes him squirm, unsure if he wants to lean into it or move away. Ultimately, Ness arches his back, putting him more onto Kaiser.

Before he can pull away, Kaiser’s hand plants itself firmly against his back, keeping Ness pressed against him. Kaiser slides a thigh between his, pushing his legs apart. A tattooed hand cradles the back of his head as the other trails back to his hip and slowly slides under his shirt, ghosting over his abs.

Ness jumps at the touch, making Kaiser smirk into the kiss.

That same hand begins to drift down further and further.

A knock on the door makes them still. Kaiser pulls back, disgruntled. He glares at the door, brow twitching when someone knocks again.

“Fucking—” he hisses. He stomps over to the door, throwing it open. “What?!”

Gesner and the team are quick to pull him out into the hallway.

“No hiding in your room, we need to celebrate!”

Kaiser protests as he’s dragged away by their teammates. Ness follows behind meekly in an attempt to avoid getting harangued like the blonde. It works well enough aside from the arms wrapped around his back urging him forward whenever they think he may sneak away.

Privately, Ness is both relieved and disappointed, unsure where the night would’ve headed otherwise if it weren’t for their interruption.

They end up at their usual bar, and Ness chats pleasantly with the team in between shots, meanwhile Kaiser is scowling until he gets hammered.

The night finally comes to end when the others slink off to the next bar, high-spirited and singing off-key. Kaiser drunkenly hobbles back to his room with the help of Ness.

When they get there, Ness juggles opening the door while keeping Kaiser upright. He succeeds, and he ushers him inside.

“Can you stand?”

“Mm.”

Ness takes that as a no and sits Kaiser on the bed while he helps him change into sleepwear. The next stop is the bathroom for him to brush his teeth, which Kaiser insists on doing himself, and even stands on his own to do it. He sways a bit while he does so, making eye contact with Ness in the mirror with an expression that begs for praise.

He gives a wordless thumbs-up and smiles, and Kaiser lights up, brushing his teeth with renewed vigor.

Ness tries not to laugh at his easy-to-please emperor.

Kaiser finishes, then stands in his bathroom and stares at the floor. After fifteen seconds, Ness nudges him towards his bed, and he startles like he didn’t know he was there.

“Ness?” he slurs quietly.

“Kaiser,” he responds, just as quiet.

The blonde grins like he told an inside joke, and pulls him into a hug.

Out of everything they’ve done so far, this feels more intimate than anything else. Ness hugs back, careful not to squeeze too tight.

Kaiser gets heavier, like he’s falling asleep, so Ness half-walks, half-drags him to bed. Ness makes sure he’s on his side before retreating to his room.

+1. Confession kiss

“Why do you keep kissing me?”

Kaiser pauses, fork halfway to his mouth.

Granted, there could’ve been a better time to do this than lunch (a very late lunch since Kaiser was hungover and ran out of ingredients in his personal kitchenette), but it was the last bit of alone time they were guaranteed to have before they flew off to Japan for the Blue Lock project.

So lunch it was.

Kaiser’s fork clatters on the table when he sets it down next to his empty plate. He’s chewing his last bite very slowly and very thoroughly—unnecessary for a bit of cheese.

Ness waits.

After a lifetime of chewing: “That’s a stupid question.”

“Is there a stupid answer?” Ness probes.

Kaiser frowns and pushes his dishes away from him. Ness can be as patient as he needs. He can also be as stubborn as he needs—it’s why they’re a good fit.

Finally, Kaiser spoke.

“That’s what you’re supposed to do, when you...” Kaiser’s face reddens, “…care about someone.”

Ness’s heart races. “And you care about me?”

The tsunami of red on Kaiser’s face was answer enough.

“You could’ve told me we were dating,” Ness chastises, though he’s sure it’s ineffective with the smile bursting from his lips. “I didn’t know you were even interested in that sort of thing.”

Kaiser scoffs. “Don’t be ridiculous, Ness. As if I would ever think of doing this with anyone but you.”

Ness suddenly understood Kaiser’s fascination with catching him off guard with kisses. When he pulls back, Kaiser is staring at him with a flustered expression, eyes wide and cheeks flushed.

Ness waits, but when the other doesn’t move, he kisses him once more, letting it linger.

Kaiser burns under his touch, and Ness gleefully places one more chaste kiss on his lips before attempting to pull away.

A tattooed hand around his nape pulls him forward, and he meets Kaiser in another kiss.

This time, Ness touches freely. He lets his fingers coast over Kaiser’s shoulders, his throat, his cheek. When he gets to his tattoo, Ness takes delight in feeling Kaiser shudder under his touch.

Kaiser is quick to get his revenge with a nibble to his lower lip before sinking his teeth into his throat.

Ness yelps, and he can feel the other’s smirk pressed against his neck.

He fists a handful of blonde strands and yanks, and Kaiser’s moan against his pulse makes Ness whine before he remembers the bigger picture.

He dislodges himself from Kaiser and pushes his chair back. Before he can focus on how Kaiser looks betrayed, Ness pulls his chair out and climbs onto his emperor’s lap, settling in like it’s his right to this throne. Which, frankly, it is.

Ness links his arms around Kaiser’s neck the same moment that he grabs Ness’s waist. In seconds, they meet.

Their mouths meld together, lips slotting against one another until it’s just right. Ness implements the tricks he learned over their last few kisses, making Kaiser chuckle quietly. Ness beams, and for a moment, the kiss is less of a kiss and more of them pressing their smiles against one another’s.

They continue.

Ness’s fingers card through his hair while Kaiser’s hand smooths down his spine. They kiss until they’re love-drunk, lips numb.

Finally, Kaiser pulls away and tucks himself into Ness’s shoulder. He presses a kiss to his neck that makes the magician hum. He curls around his emperor with a happy sigh, chin resting on the crown of his head.

Curiosity finally satiated, Ness could now admit he was looking forward to the next kisses he could experience with Kaiser.

Notes:

I headcanon Ness as a Witch Hat Atelier fan. Anyone who disagrees must be burned at the stake.

I don't really care about the other members of Bastard Munchen and I'm sure it shows. Oh well.
