At Merlin Academy, destiny seems written long before anyone tries to defy it. Heroes destined to shine, villains doomed to fall. But sometimes, a whisper is enough to twist history.
That whisper was born in a dark hallway.
Uliana watched with disdain the pink-haired girl handing out cupcakes in the courtyard. "She's too sweet," she snarled. "And tonight, at Prince Charming's ball, I'm going to wipe that smile off her face."
Beside her, James Hook twirled his hook with bored curiosity. "So what does that have to do with me?"
"You ask her to the ball," Uliana smiled. "You make her feel special... and then you break her heart in front of everyone."
James looked at Bridget. She laughed, and that sound pierced his chest in an unexpected way. Even so, he agreed. It was just a cruel game. Nothing more.
He didn't know he was walking straight to his doom.
Destiny had decreed she would be a tyrant and he a villain. But that night, under the moon and with a promise of vengeance, James Hook was about to commit the most rebellious act of all: falling in love with his victim.
