Work Text:
It was the end of the day, there were no more classes and the medical wing was empty. Ms.Poppet stumbled into the medical wing, sniffling and wiping her nose with a handkerchief. She kept trying to find Dolly, her heels clicking against the floor as she walked. The medical wing smelled strongly if disinfectant alcohol and medicine.
Eventually she found Dolly, almost tripping upon entering her office. Dolly was currently knitting, the slight clinking of the needles against each other.
"What do you want, you stupid tramp?" Dolly asked tiredly, not looking up from her knitting.
"Oh dear, I'm such a mess, my nose is runny and my head pounds like the knocking upon a door" Ms.Poppet gasped, head hurting like hell but still trying to keep her composure.
"I'm sure you can figure it out yourself, I have other pressing matters to attend to" Miss Dolly said, waving her off.
Ms poppet snickered quietly at those words, Dolly was knitting, how could that possibly be a more pressing matter than her horrible sickness.
"Are you laughing at me, tramp?" Dolly scowled, looking up from her knitting.
"Yes I am, I mean how could knitting possibly be a more pressing matter than my sickness?" Ms. Poppet answered, tilting her head a bit.
"Fine, How are you feeling, Ms. Poppet?" Dolly asked, putting down her knitting supplies and trying to act professional.
"I already told you deary, my nose is runny and I have a headache." Ms. Poppet replied, slightly whiny.
"Yes I'm aware, but do you have any others?" Dolly asked, rolling her eyes.
"I suppose I have a little tickle in my throat and have been coughing often" Ms. Poppet says before sneezing, covering her nose with her handkerchief.
"It sounds like the common cold, come sit and I'll get your medicine" Dolly said, patting the cot near her desk.
"I refuse to sit on that disgusting cot, whose to say you've ever washed it? Surely you can take care of me while I'm standing dear" Ms. Poppet said, huffing and crossing her arms.
Dolly paused while going to get medicine and turned towards Ms. Poppet, glaring.
"Just do as I say, tramp. You need medicine and rest so you will go to that cot and sit down" She muttered in annoyance, scowling after.
"Youre as intimidating as a butterfly but fine" Ms. Poppet said with another huff, coughing into her handkerchief before going over and sitting on the cot.
The cot was quite hard but soft. She sat there for a bit, swinging her feet as she waited for Dolly to come back. She looked around the room, seeing the other empty cots and Dolly's desk. On the desk was a record player, medicine bottles and knitting supplies. Behind the desk was a large window that Soon Dolly came back with a bottle.
"You must drink this, it won't get rid of the cold but it will make you feel better" Dolly said, pouring some of the medicine into a cup and handing it to Ms.Poppet.
It smelled horrendous, like a smell of rotting meat that someone tried to cover up with fake perfume.
"W-wow you've really outdone yourself this time, love" Ms Poppet tried to say politely, hesitant to drink the medicine.
"Trying out new nicknames are we, darling? Just hurry up and drink it" Dolly answered, crossing her arms.
Eventually Ms.Poppet did drink it. It tasted worse than it smelled, like chemicals, rotting animals and soil all mixed into a sickening stew. She coughed after and set the cup down but she did feel somewhat better, just alot more tired now.
"It'll make you tired, just get some rest and you'll feel better in the morning" Dolly said in response to Ms. Poppet's tired state.
Gently she pushed Ms Poppet down to lay on the cot and kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight" Dolly muttered in Ms. Poppet's ear just as she fell asleep before Dolly went back to knitting at her desk.
