Summary
Cinta is gasping, swallowing air. This can’t be how her life ends: fallen over, killed by a stray bullet, laid bare and then dead the next day here on Ghorman.
Her vision begins to blur with the pain, the pain which has now come to her all at once, searing and hot and shocking. This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening. Vel’s face comes into closer focus. She realizes, for the first time since her parents’ death, since becoming a nobody orphan who stays alive to kill, that she’d like to live.
