the radio sang out the static filled words of "Deee-Lite" while Brendon shouted for it to be turned up louder and Ryan tried to huddle in the corner of his seat. it was cramped in the van on the California roads and Ryan was just trying to get some writing done without being too interrupted. of course Brendon would never let that happen, especially when he got to sit right beside him.
"DJ soul, was on a roll, I've been told he can't be sold-"
Brendon grins and sings, leaning close over Ryan's shoulder, bumping it with his.
"he's not vicious-"
"brendon stop-" his shoulders tense as he turns further away.
"-or malicious,"
"Brendon seriously, stop it-" Brendon ignores Ryan as he elbows him in the ribs, getting in Ryan's face.
"he's just de-lovely and delicious!"
"Brendon!" Ryan huffs, finally turning his head to shoot Brendon an annoyed look, to which Brendon only grins back.
"Bren, I'm busy. just-" he stops, realizing Brendon's face is mych closer to his than he's comfortable with.
"I couldn't ask for another." Brendon sings still, this time less off key, but still beaming with playfulness.
"uh-"
"no, I couldn't ask for another~" he sings, though now his tone has shifted to a mix of flirtation and humor, batting his eyelashes dramatically at Ryan.
"oh my god, get out of my face-" Ryan shoves brendon away by his shoulder, trying to hide the smile Brendon managed to cause.
"HA I got you! you smiled!" Brendon beams, pointing at Ryan's smile in victory. god dammit, he always did that.
"you did not. now shut up so I can write." Ryan laughs slightly, rolling his eyes as he returns his attention to the notebook on his knee. Brendon just continues on humming and staring out the window at passing street signs.
