This is a Ryden drabble for when the band broke up. Roughly took real events to use for this one, didn't edit it since it's just a drabble. This actually really helped me get back into the swing of writing, so thanks to the person running this challenge. Mwuah xx

Cape town. 2009. The band had been touring, but right now they were in a.. rough spot. The band hadn't exactly named it, but it was obvious that Brendon and Ryan were together. And right now, it was even more obvious that they were having problems. None of them were exactly sure why. None of them talked much about it. Hell, Spencer and Jon never even verbally acknowledged the relationship, and it was a silent understanding that no one ever would.

rustling of clothes, muttering of people, loud music muffled by the walls, zippers, laughter, vocal warmups, phones buzzing, and the cheering and shouting of a crowd far bigger than anticipated. those were just a few of the things Ryan Ross had noticed in the last ten minutes, as he drew with extravagant effort across his eyes with a shaky eyeliner pen, the repetitive action probably being the only one that was currently keeping him from breaking down.

(mostly) and now they were celebrating. it was mostly pete's idea to throw such a big party, (of course it was) and he'd, as always, gone all out. they and every other band on their label were stumbling around a semi-popular club, laughing at each other, shouting over the music, and drowning themselves in booze.

Ryan and Brendon were out on the deck of the cabin, staring out at the stars in the night sky. as far as they knew, it was midnight. in reality it was much later, but they really didn't care. they only really lived after dark. came with the whole growing up in Vegas thing. at night the city lived and everyone felt alone. but still, they found each other in those moments. that way they could feel alone together.

the radio sang out the static filled words of "Deee-Lite" while Brendon shouted for it to be turned up louder and Ryan tried to huddle in the corner of his seat. it was cramped in the van on the California roads and Ryan was just trying to get some writing done without being too interrupted. of course Brendon would never let that happen, especially when he got to sit right beside him.

Brendon felt worse about it at first, but Ryan felt bad for longer. and she still did. of course, neither girls told their families about their relationship that had come together behind closed doors. neither of them planned to. it'd end horribly for both of them. and for a while, they were both okay with keeping it a secret. but after Brendon fully accepted that part of herself, she wanted to go public with it. and, of course, Ryan objected to telling anyone. thus Brendon came up with a different idea.

it was close to 2:00am, and Ryan was passed out on the couch in his apartment, the TV still playing and a cup of coffee left half empty on the table. he'd been home from touring with The Young Veins for about a month but he's barely had the time to start processing anything; the band breakup, everything that did and didn't happen between him and Brendon, any of it. he wasn't taking it well, even if it was a hell of his own making.
