Summary
Rin happens upon a Kitsune's Hoshi no Tama soon after beginning her travels with Sesshomaru, and while she holds onto it, its owner comes searching. Rather than attacking the group, though, she feels indebted to the child for protecting it. Wounded and powerless at first, the Kyuubi is initially only capable of thanking her with words--but soon offers her assistance in protecting the child to repay her. What starts as a favor repaid quickly develops into a quiet interest by the girl's guardian, not just allowing but requesting the kitsune remain with the group. Though she has her own struggles and enemies, she agrees, seeing Sesshomaru's intent to destroy Naraku to be something that would serve all. She reveals, over time, that her original gaining of tails was in the pursuit of sacred advancement--but she failed at ascension because of her strong will and fierce independence--traits that Sesshomaru is unsurprised to find he appreciates, but surprised by the way they stir a feeling in him long thought useless.
SessRin shippers need not interact. Obviously Yashahime is considered non-canon. OC was made long before it was even a thought.
