Work Text:
Wifies - no, the Director doesn’t understand Parrot’s indignance. He, Parrot’s dead best friend, had been miraculously revived. He had offered a safe place for the both of them, and while he understood Parrot digging in his heels and balking like the stubborn avian he is, he didn’t expect this amount of resistance.
He didn’t expect Parrot’s hurt gaze to watch him with a glint of betrayal in those brown eyes. He loved those brown eyes so much, and those brown eyes looked back at him with - with betrayal?
Or - no. That’s not right. The Director expects; the Director knows. He knows Parrot, inside and out. This is all going to plan. No, it’s Wifies’ expectations who have been hurt. What did Wifies expect? For Parrot to launch himself at him after months of torment?
Wifies is vulnerable, foolish, decidedly human. Unfortunately, the Director is stuck with him.
So when he says to Parrot, “Picture a place where nothing hurts”, his voice carries a tinge of past times.
