Let’s get one thing straight-
Bdubs wasn’t a disobedient child.
He was a fully grown adult thank you very much-
But did he tend to get into trouble more often than most other borrowers…
..
Sure yeah there might be a morsel of truth there,
That didn’t mean he needed a babysitter or anything like that though!
Just because he was braver than anyone else in the colony did not make it necessary to lock him in his house.
Sure talking to a Human Bean was stupid, reckless, idiotic, dangerous, stupid, crazy, moronic, and not to mention STUPID!
But…
Etho seemed nice enough…
..
And at the end of the day…
Wouldn’t it make everyone’s lives so much easier if Borrowers and Beans worked together!!
So yeah…
Maybe it was dumb…
Maybe the Colony was right to lock Bdubs up
But….
..
Unfortunately for them…
Bdubs was always more clever than that, and sneaking out was kinda a specialty at this point-
Because once upon a time
He had been a disobedient child- and he got good at it too-
And now here he was putting those skills back to use-
Sneaking out of the confines of the colony’a borders and back into the Human Bean’s house.
He traversed through the walls and expertly navigated through the giant’s house-
It was almost the middle of the night- but Bdubs knew this Human’s habits-
So he made his way to the office
The human was sat at his desk, the blue glow of his computer screen lighting up his pale face and white hair.
“Hey Etho-“
The Bean looked his way- and a spike of adrenaline ran through Bdub’s veins-
It was terrifying to have the attention of someone so much larger than him still, but as Etho’s gaze softened and the corners of his eyes crinkled in a smile-
And That fear lessened
“Hey Dubs- how’d the talk with your friends go?”
“Eh… not that great,.. they still think your evil and then they put me on house arrest”
“Wait what?? Seriously?”
“Yeah! I mean I tried to convince them that you were great but they called me an wayward borrower-“
“Oh wow, ever the trouble maker now aren’t you-“ Etho said with a slight smirk-
“Hey! I’ll have you know I’m a very respectable borrower-“
“Uh huh- and how did you get out of your house arrest?”
The borrower spluttered caught off guard by the question
“Wha! By totally respectable means I’ll have you know!!!”
The Bean Chuckled reaching out and gently ruffling the borrower’s hair with his index finger.
“You certainly are the most respectable Borrower I’ve ever met!”
“Thank yo- HEY!!! IM THE ONLY BORROWER YOU’VE MET!”
Etho only laughed harder “just realizing that now pal?”
Bdubs couldn’t help but join in the laughter-
“Hey ya Jerk-“ he shoved the large offending digit away-
“I am still a great example of a borrower, no matter you who meet”
“Sure you are bud- Mr Wayward.”
“Now your just being mean-“
“Heh well I am living up your people’s standards of me-“
“Yeah well… wait till you meet the rest of the hermits-
They’ll love you-“
Etho smiled fondly
“If you say so Bdubs-“
Okay so… maybe BdoubleO wasn’t the best example of a borrower-
Or at least one who followed all the rules,
But he was steadfast and Braver than most.
And honestly that’s all it takes to be a little Wayward in his world.
