“Hey do I look fat in this?” She rushed out of the bathroom to her room, setting her phone down on the bed where her boyfriend sat, revising positions on his notebook.
“You look beautiful” He smiled as his girlfriend turned and looked at herself from different angles in front of the mirror. Then, he caught a glimpse of her red watery eyes and thought about how she’d called herself fat right then. “Hey, where did that come from?” He asked gently, getting up from the bed and heading towards her, guiding her into a soft hug.
“I just…” Her voice trembled. “I’m sorry”. She started sobbing “My father just- He-” Her voice broke.
Suga sighed. He knew well about her father’s tendencies to judge his lovely girl’s body. He hated him just as much as she did.
“I thought I looked pretty, I… I saw myself pretty! And then he just had to…to…” She trembles, her breath hitching.
He knew just how she felt, this was not the first time her father had overwhelmed her with nasty comments about her looks and pressured her with diets. Why couldn’t he leave her be?
“Shhh, you’re okay” He caressed her hair as softly and reassuringly as he could despite his growing feelings towards the old man. His warms stayed wrapped around her as she sobbed into his chest. “You’re beautiful, no matter what he thinks, what you wear, what you eat or don’t eat, it doesn’t matter in the slightest.”
“Then why does everyone keep saying the opposite?” She said between hiccups, burying her face deeper into the crook of his neck, wet drops running down her cheeks and landing on his clothes, staining them. He couldn’t care less about that.
“Because they don’t know a darn thing, sweetheart. For me, you’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. You made me see the good in myself when I didn’t think there was any. And I love you and adore you with all my heart and soul. Are you implying that I’m wrong?” He questioned, his tone carried no trail of anger or disappointment whatsoever, just quiet understanding.
She shook her head quickly “No… just… It’s hard to believe it sometimes.” She sighed, taking deep breaths.
“That’s why I’m here to remind you how true it is. That's my job.” He smiled and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, wiping her tears away as she gave him the tiniest of smiles, still sniffling. His smile never faltered “There it is. Have I told you how much I love kissing that smile of yours?” He caressed her cheeks with his thumbs and she chuckled softly.
“Yeah… a lot.”
“Hm… it’s always worth a little reminder.” He smirked as he leaned in to press his lips on hers briefly. She gave in to the contact and reached out to put her hands on the back of his neck, bringing him closer to press their foreheads together.
“I really love you.” She whispered, feeling him reach down to intertwine his fingers with hers.
“I really love you too.” He answered with a smile.
