Chapter Text
“any questions?”
jiyong gulped. he had many. but instead, he nonchalantly shook his head, throwing in a smile. why must he sabotage himself in these ways? his manager gave a thumbs up and walked off, leaving him alone at the register.
“fuck.” he muttered under his breath, poking around aimlessly on the screen. “stupid bitch.”
“ouch.” a deep voice chuckled and jiyong nearly jumped out of his skin.
“i’m so sorry! holy shit! oh, sorry!” he panicked, slapping a hand over his mouth.
a very tall, very handsome customer was stood right in front of him. laughing. jiyong was making a complete fool of himself.
“um, um, sorry. uh, did you want your receipt?” he grimaced, absolutely fumbling his words.
the customer furrowed his brows, obviously teasing jiyong. “ah, for sure. i would if i had actually bought anything.”
jiyong let out an embarrassed breath, scanning the three items the customer had. noodles, marinara sauce, and ground beef.
“anything else?” jiyong mumbled, refusing to make eye contact.
“no. that’ll be it. i’ll pay card.”
“okay, cash or card? oh- uh. fuck. card. okay.” jiyong was absolutely shooting himself in the foot.
“i’ll round up, too.” the customer hummed, extremely amused by the entire interaction.
jiyong threw out the entire script he had in his mind, only nodding with his mouth pressed shut. jiyong hit the round up button and gestured at the card reader so the customer knew to pay. the handsome bitch had the audacity to giggle. GIGGLE.
he finished paying and reached over, tapping the option for his receipt himself and grabbing it straight out of the printer.
“see ya, jiyong.” he winked, taking his items and leaving.
“enjoy… your… spaghetti.” his voice trailed off as the man got farther and farther away.
jiyong wanted to die. he wanted to disappear off the face of the earth and never be seen again. he squeezed his eyes shut, willing the memory of his major fuck-up out of his mind. as the customers flowed through, he began to run through interactions easier and easier.
that was until the giggling supermodel himself showed back up, a new box of noodles and a bouquet of daisies in hand.
“mom wasn’t happy with the noodle choice.” he shrugged, placing the box on the belt. “i wasn’t happy embarrassing the cute new cashier.”
jiyong’s jaw literally dropped. the customer stole the scan gun from him and scanned the pasta and flowers, himself. he walked himself through the entire transaction, all while jiyong stood there completely frozen.
“h-how? um, daisies?” he eventually got out.
“well, if the pin on your vest didn’t tell me anything, your nails sure did.” he smirked, pointing at jiyong’s daisy pin and the plethora of daisies on his nails.
“oh.” jiyong breathed out.
“oh.” the customer playfully mocked. “here.”
he handed the flowers over and jiyong took them with shaking hands. jiyong glanced up.
“seunghyun.” the customer answered him before he could even ask.
“thank you, seunghyun.” jiyong nervously blushed.
“you’re welcome, jiyong. now, i was only hoping my receipt could come with a phone number. preferably one that doesn’t answer with the name of the grocery store and a question on how to help me.”
jiyong felt a surge of braveness. “too bad. i’m going to answer like that anyway.”
“well, then maybe i won’t complain too much.” seunghyun grinned, taking his receipt with jiyong’s phone number at the bottom. “okay. see you around. again.”
“i better.” jiyong matched seunghyun’s grin.
he may have fumbled his words, but he did not fumble the man.
