Picnic (Summer Holiday)

Summary:

A rich Victorian family is on holiday for the summer. The Doctor and Alistair decide to stay at the house while it is empty. One of their activities is a picnic.

Work Text:

The Doctor and Alistair walked arm in arm through a field. The Doctor carried a wicker basket in his other arm. The weather was a pleasant temperature and there was a light breeze which rustled the tall blades of grass.

The Doctor spotted an ideal place next to a tree. He increased his speed, pulling the brigadier along with him. Once reaching the spot, the Doctor released Alistair's arm and set down the basked in the dappled light. The Brigadier unfolded the blue and white checkered fabric he had been carrying and spread it out across the grass. The Doctor moved the basket to the middle of the blanket before sitting next to it. Alistair quickly joined him. Alistair leaned in, kissing the Doctor. His hand came to the side of the Doctor’s face. The Doctor eagerly reciprocated.

When the Brigadier pulled away the Doctor reached to pull the basket closer. “What did you pack?”

“Gorgonzola cheese, a lovely wine and pastries from the bakery down the road.” The Doctor replied.

“Where did you get the wine and cheese?”

“I may have taken them from the house of Sir Reginald Styles.”

“Doctor! Stealing, really?”

“There was so much there. He never would have used it all.” The Doctor grinned at him and Alistair sighed in response. The Doctor poured them each a glass he then handed one to the Brigadier.

When they had finished the food, the Doctor moved close and leaned against Alistair. In response the Brigadier wrapped his arm around the Doctor and kissed him on the forehead. They sat for a while, basking in the dappled sunlight and listening to nearby birds.
