Summary
Miles Morales thought getting spider powers would be the weird part.
Then his dad died looking for him during the Oscorp disaster. Gwen vanished. The original Spider-Man turned out to be a broke, widowed thirty-something Peter Parker who communicates affection through shin-kicks, homework bans and ceiling texts.
Worse, Miles wasn’t the only one bitten.
Every spider was different. Every bite made something different. Gwen came back changed, and there may be more kids like them still out there. Meanwhile Miles is being dragged into a superhero ecosystem of costume contracts, therapy, merch royalties, old Doom tech, Kraven’s standards, Venom’s opinions, Jessica Jones’ cigarettes and whatever Frank Castle is doing this week.
This isn’t a story about inheriting a mantle.
It’s about inheriting a community: messy, broke, traumatised, loving and occasionally homicidal.
Ohana means family.
Family means somebody notices when you’re failing maths.
