I Want My Boyfriends to Kiss!

Work Text:

Like most girls her age, Misa Amane was prone to reading some boy's love manga every now and then.
And like some girls her age, she wanted her psychopathic boyfriend to kiss the man he was currently handcuffed to.

"It wouldn't be a big deal," L spoke up after she had relayed the idea to them both, still chewing his thumb.
What? Light thought, his line of sight flitting from the detective to Misa. Even Misa herself seemed surprised, blinking twice as her lips parted slightly. "I mean," L said, setting his hand down. "It's just a peck on the lips, from what I assume Misa wants of us."

"Right!" She agreed enthusiastically, smiling. "Just a little kiss, and then I kiss you both back!"
"That won't be necessary," L shrugged, awkward at the suggestion. He rested his hands on his knees as he looked over to Light. "Besides, we're going to be spending some time in a close vicinity anyway. I don't see a problem with it, especially if it grows mutual trust between us."

If I refuse, he'll probably have more reason to suspect I'm Kira, Light mused, expressionless as he thought. But if I agree too quickly, he could suspect something entirely different...!  In the corner, Ryuk stared at the three, almost amused by the situation. Humans, huh...

Misa leaned back on the brown leather couch she was sitting on, growing a little impatient. "So? Come on, Light, for Misa?" She batted her eyes, beaming at her lover with a demure smile. "I promise I won't get jealous! This time~" she giggled, though she was anything but joking.

Light exhaled quietly through his nose before standing up, walking over to L, and sitting down beside him on the wooden floor.
"So?" L questioned, the boys barely a foot apart. "Are we going through with this...request?"
"Of course," Light said with a gentlemanly nod. "If it's for Misa, I have no regrets."

His girlfriend practically squealed, her eyes shining as she leaned suddenly forward. Ryuk remained totally silent, unsure of any direct course of action.
"...okay, then..."
The first Kira dismissed all other thoughts, choosing to focus on the sole idea that this wasn't L in front of him, but Misa. Kissing her would be easier--it would be easier to fake his affection for her, at least--and would definitely be more familiar. So what if the person in front of him wasn't wearing cherry-pink lipstick, or wearing a leather jacket and striped thigh-highs? He's done far more difficult things. He could do this, surely.

L gave his thumbnail a final worry before Light leaned in, pressing his lips to the other man's for a few seconds before leaning back out. L was completely expressionless, and he turned to stare at the blond-haired girl on the couch. "Was I correct in my assumptions?"
Misa gave one last elated shriek before bounding over to the two, tackling both of them in a hug and pulling them close. "Ahhh, I knew you'd do it!! Thank you, Light!" She beamed, pressing a soft kiss to L's cheek and peppering her boyfriend's face with her lips. "You're the best!~"

Light closed his eyes, giving a dismissive shake of his head. "Of course, Misa."

That night, laying on his back and staring up at the bedroom ceiling that he had to share with Lawliet, he felt the texture of her lip-gloss clinging to the skin of his cheek. His eyes narrowed as he thought.
His lips were soft. A little chapped, but otherwise, soft. And they had a faint taste of cake.

L, who was laying on his side and staring at the wall, suddenly broke the silence, glancing over at Light. "Yagami?"
Light shifted, his hands behind his head. "Yeah?"
"I hope you know I won't take it easy on you after this. I still consider you suspect."

Light said nothing.

"...her lipstick does smell very good, doesn't it?"
"It does," he answered.
"She'll probably ask us to do this again, yes?" L queried.
"If I know Misa, she will," Light muttered, closing his eyes.

L moved slightly, tucking his knees closer to his chest.
"We should probably be ready tomorrow, then."

Light made a faint hum of agreement.
