    Finrod did not know what woke him. When he regained his consciousness, there was nothing which could have caught his attention. He chose not to linger on the needless thought - his attention was caught by something different, something far more worthy than fluttering curtains or nightly breezes. A blast of warm air hit his pec as his wife exhaled deeply and shifted for a more comfortable position. Finrod followed her movements with ease to ensure she was as comfortable as possible as she rested against him. Finrod’s elven heart stumbled in his chest and he could not help the smile tugging on his lips as he watched Kazaheril slumber on. The peaceful expression on her face made tears prick in his eyes - finally, after ages of enslavement to Morgoth’s will, she was free.
