Work Text:
Being away most weekends meant their places got quite dirty quite quickly. Sure they had someone come in and clean every week but Esteban liked to do most of the cleaning himself. After a double header there was a lot to do now that they were home; laundry, sweeping, dusting, dishes. Esteban was already on their third load of laundry and Ollie was feeling neglected. He’s been lying on the couch all day watching Esteban move around the apartment cleaning, he offered to help but Esteban assured him that he had it all under control. Ollie knew better honestly, Esteban was very particular about how things were done and Ollie very rarely did it right, so it was just better to let Esteban do everything right the first time. But now Ollie was getting lonely, he wanted Esteban to come and lay with him and relax. They just got back last night and Esteban hasn’t taken a moment to breathe since waking up. Just a few minutes later Esteban came into the living room to sweep the floor.
“Estie. Come lie down with me.” Ollie whined, reaching out to try and grab Esteban on the way past.
“Just a bit Ollie, I’m almost done.”
“You’ve been ignoring me all day to clean. It’s hurting my feelings.” Ollie pouted, crossing his arms to prove his point that he was upset with Esteban.
“Just a bit longer, I need to finished sweeping and switch the last load of laundry then I’m all yours. Promise.”
“Fine, whatever.” Ollie dramatically rolled over so he was facing the back of the couch with his back to Esteban.
Esteban shook his head fondly. He knew Ollie was a little dramatic but Esteban knew if he got everything done now then the next couple days they could just relax and not worry about any of this. Esteban finished swapping the living room while Ollie pouted dramatically on the couch still. Once he was done he made his way to the laundry room, he carefully folded the laundry from the dryer and put the last load from the washer into the dryer. Once the clothes were put away in their room he made his way back to the living room. Ollie was back to laying properly on the couch but when he saw Esteban he turned around again, choosing to ignore him more.
“I’m going to make some lunch, do you want anything.” Esteban was standing beside the couch and was able to catch Ollie carefully peeking up at him. Ollie didn’t respond but Esteban caught the slight nod of his head so he took that as his answer. Esteban made a couple of sandwiches, platting them up and taking them to the living room. Ollie was still laying down but was now facing out so Esteban could see his face. Esteban moved Ollie’s feet, setting them on his lap as he sat down. Ollie sat up, looking at the sandwiches Esteban was still holding.
“Can I have one?” Ollie asked.
“Of course. Come here,” Ollie didn’t hesitate, sliding across the couch to sit right beside Esteban.
“Sorry for giving you attitude.” Ollie said when the food was almost gone.
“I know you didn’t mean it. But now it’s done. I just have to get the last load out of the dryer in about 30 minutes and then we have the rest of the day for whatever we want.” Esteban sat the empty plate on the table and pulled Ollie fully against his side.
“I like the sound of that.” Ollie relaxed against Esteban’s side, eyes falling closed. He was just about asleep when the dryer dinged and Esteban moved. Ollie glared at Esteban as he stood up. Esteban just smiled as he left the room. Ollie could wait a few more minutes.
