It started with him spending less time with Max, who had always been a massive anchor, keeping Lewis grounded in the present. Take Max out of the equation for long stretches, and Lewis could feel his grip on himself slowly slipping. The team demanded his full focus to maintain his position in the Driver’s Championship, and he poured himself into simulation runs, over and over, chasing the computer’s prediction of what it would take to win. He was running on fumes.

Summary
The 2021 season is the first one Max and Lewis compete in since they made their relationship official. The first few races are harder than they expect, especially as it becomes obvious how much closer the title race is this year. But Max and Lewis made promises to each-other the night before the first race in Bahrain.
They promised that whatever happens on track, they’d spend the night together after every race. They’d never go to sleep angry at each-other, and they’d never let the Mercedes-Red Bull rivalry tear them apart.
They try their best not to break their promises, but it's easier said than done.
