“If you knew God wouldn’t see,” Satoru searched for Suguru’s eyes. “Would you have let me kiss you?”
Suguru didn’t look away. “Yeah,” he said, his eyes fixated on Satoru’s. “I would kiss you right now.”
“But that’s not my reality,” Suguru continued. The words landed heavy, grounding them both in reality again. “In this lifetime, I can’t give you what you want.” He ran a hand over his face, suddenly sounding tired.
Satoru didn’t flinch.
"I meant what I said before," Satoru told him. He didn't sound frantic or desperate anymore, now he just sounded so incredibly sure. "I am okay with being friends. I really am. I don't care about the rest of it. I just want you in my life, Suguru."
