Chapter 1: 01

Chapter Text

training and preparation.

A long perish waited for the five strangers, going through hell and coming back as they trained for every possibility.

--

The routine that took a grasp of her days since humans decided it was time to make evolution by creating artificial intelligence was cruel. To the point where her days blurred, mixed together in a graze of passing time.

It's been six years where, from the moment her eyes opened each morning, her phone took possession of her eyes and was able to lure her into the unending cycle. Similar to a rabbit hole of news, fake videos and talking to inexistent people.

But what could it take from her?

The people that were supposed to be empathic but drank the rudeness and cruelty as if it was the composants of their blood, or the nature that was burned down so that they would be able to build the tallest, thickest buildings to hide from the outside world and call it a home.

It was everything but a home, a prison that they thought was protecting them. While in reality, it was suffocating.

She couldn't escape, she could never.

Incessant as it tamed the ember of any joy she was still able to feel while seeing something she likes.

This wasn't a possibility anymore even when her eyes made contact with a child's innocence. Because she knew that they would never see a world of sunshine and light, that the light inside their heart will be crushed, in the same image hers was.

Her steps kept carrying her body automatically throughout the streets, while she wandered in the darkness of her thoughts.

The streets were now decorated in electrical nuances, the darkest color with nuances of blue or pink. A vibe that the old people once dreamed of and called « cyberpunk » without realizing the loneliness that accompanies it.

Entering her home, a seventy square feet that carried everything she needed each day. Nothing much if we ignored her desire to be free and see the sun for once.
Going to stand in the corner of the small room after taking her shoes and jacket off, she presses the fingertip of her thumb on the small square, clicking on the design of a box of food titled « box for one person ».

The only surprise of her day was what this dish contained, because everyday, it had different ingredients and a new type of meat. Which offered the type of vitamin needed to survive without any light through chemical food.

Disgusting.
Tasteless.

But what could she do apart from letting herself fall on the bed while tearing the aluminum foil and throwing it away? Nothing but putting on her favorite movie that gave her heart a spark of hope and desire.

Avatar

A piece of movie that became her favorite since her father made her watch it in her early childhood before his death, one that was filled with everything that the earth was supposed to be before the humans - or sky people, as called in Pandora - ruined every piece of it.

In her action to throw the plate back in the square after she finished eating, her eyes grasp the presence of a foreign paper. Making her stop in her action and take a hold of it, turning it aside to read what was written.

« Dear citizens of the district neonblade, we call for the ones with no fear of exploring foreign places to go to Slyder Jax 1443 without any company, today at 12am. »

She clenches her jaw, once, twice, thrice before putting the piece of paper on the table that served as kitchenette and nightstand at once.

It might be weird, but the way that this simple letter made her stomach flutter with a new emotion was the single proof she needed for her to go there and explore what they called a no-fear experience.

She could keep her revisit of her favorite world for tomorrow.

If tomorrow comes.
