. BILBO BAGGINS.
Now, see, I can very much — somewhat — see Gandalf mentioning another Hobbit is coming along as a sort of leverage over Bilbo. However, Bilbo being a rather respectable (who lied to him?) Baggins would find that rather atrocious. He'd huff, probably mutter something about "the youth of today", and then go on his "No adventures here, please, thank you," rampant. He'd very much so, prior to the adventure, share the view of other Hobbits — That you are an incredibly odd (or as they'd say queer, amirite lads and lasses? Haha..okay, not funny. I get it. Tough crowd over here.) and eccentric hobbit.
Eventually, you become his sole reminder of home. Eventually. He spends the first week — maybe even first month — tolerating you with that typical Baggins respectfullness. As much as he's grateful there is another Hobbit, he cannot fathom why you'd want adventure and actively invite it. Why choose nasty, unpredictable adventures that make you late for dinner? (A respectable Baggins is polite to even those they do not understand, yes, but that is truly just the bare minimum...Atleast that is the vibe I get.)
He gets it eventually, though. It takes time... but eventually, really, he does grasp the idea of why.
Fusses over you. The second he starts warming up, he almost instinctively fusses over you— Are you cold? Have his jacket. Have you eaten yet? Do you want second breakfast? Actually, have his breakfast too. A young Hobbit needs good food to grow properly, you see!
In all honesty, I think having a younger one (indirectly) under his care would make his road to bravery a little faster. Not only does he now need to protect himself in this case, he has another one that he feels like he has to ensure gets home safely.
Almost every time the Dwarves do something absurdly and infathomably stupid, he looks over at you and expect you to feel the same way... only to get a harsh reminded of your status as the eccentric youngster. It's nice having another Hobbit around, but It'd be even nicer if that Hobbit wasn't so... welcoming to Dwarves and their antics.
The second he grows more fond of the Dwarves, he can 100% understand you, though.
Before he gets out of that typical Hobbit mindset, he views your asocial tendencies as bizarre. Every other Hobbit Bilbo knows is perfectly sociable and loves having over visitors — So does he, really...but meeting a Hobbit who's quite the opposite of that, yet still has the energy to not be skeptical toward outsiders? The mere idea of it seems so unreal to him, at first.
Probably thinks the Dwarves brainwashed you when he first saw you, standing next to Gandalf, pillaging his pantry alongside Dwarves and being just as idiotic as them. I cannot emphasise more on how bewildered Bilbo was when he first met you.
All in all?
Bilbo grows incredibly fond of you as his arc progresses.
. THORIN OAKENSHIELD.
I actually don't see him at all as the type to care. Can you do the job and actually help around? Yes? Good.
However, a Dwarf like Thorin has a one-track mind — and even with Bilbo's constant very literal proof that he is NOT going to run off back to Bag End to his comfy sheets, books and his armchair Thorin practically already decided in his head, "Yes. Bilbo WILL take any chance to run off." So yes, I do think he'd initially view you the same as Bilbo.
However, unlike Bilbo, you prove him wrong very quickly. Because that just seems to be in your blood, apparently. You aren't skeptical of Dwarves or treat them any differently, you're simply you. You laugh at stupid jokes and antics, yet you still avoid interactions whenever you can— unlike the typical sociable Hobbit— Thorin thinks you probably endlessly pestered Gandalf to gain a place in the company. (He's right.)
Thorin grows to respect you. Slowly. A little faster than with Bilbo, though. You're not the Hobbit that fainted at the mere thought of being burnt to the crisp by Smaug, you're that introverted adventurous Hobbit that wanted to come along— Bonus points if you're loyal to a fault. Thorin respects consistency and he respects loyalty.
Thorin strikes me as the type who'd like an eccentric Hobbit over the typical, stereotypical Hobbit.
. FILI & KILI.
("Jules, are you really going to squish Fili & Kili into one section because you're lazy?" Yes. Fight me. Also, I need to pee.)
They think It's funny. As much as they love teasing Bilbo for how anxious he is, which usually ends in a stern lecture from Thorin, they like that you're not so... skeptical? Judgemental? Snobby? Inflexible? (Oh, man, I could come up with so many negative words to describe the typical rigid Hobbit. Don't test me.) You're just...different, in a sense.
Not negatively. Not at all. You're refreshingly different. Fun-different. Fili & Kili love how they can crack stupid jokes that won't end up in a 10 hour rant about the comfort of home, why adventures suck, why they should leave your property, etcetera.
Fili likes how you can be both fun but also responsible when it's necessary. You still retain some Hobbit Trademarks, yet you're also so you. Fili understand your asocial tendencies— He likes spending time with his friends and is constantly glued to Kili, but he totally understands needing time by yourself, going to lengths to avoid interaction, and feeling more comfortable alone. Fili won't intrude on your alone-time and will keep someone distracted for you incase someone tries to approach you.
Kili is incredibly understanding, but things can occasionally fly over his head. Fili typically pulls him back whenever he unintentionally intrudes your alone-time. Kili is highly sociable and impulsive, so almost entirely the opposite of you, but he'd gladly talk enough for both of you. (He could probably talk enough for the entire company. Hah.) However, Kili is caring and whilst he misses things occasionally, the second you bluntly lay out your boundaries, he will grow fiercely protective over your boundaries. He will try his absolute best, he's a sweetheart.
(just realized I barely touched upon the asocial part in Thorin & Bilbo's part. Too bad. I don't feel like adding more.)
